Sorry I missed it last night; things were going too well at the Pub to rush home this week.
Anyhow, I’m anxious to hear what happened. All I know is that OMD got bounced almost immediately. Did we have new folks play last night? What nefarious purposes was MAB used for? Did Yeti indeed have a MAB on hand as he promised last week?

I was out after seven minutes because I wasn’t quite as observant as I should have been, and figured my full house, 2s full of 5s, would win, and aggressively moved all in against asterion, who had 4s full of 2s, and called. It was stupid to go so aggressive so early against a decent slow-player. I’ll be back next week, just you wait.
I missed signing up by 20 seconds because when I opened pokertropolis and AIM at the same time, I got all of these stupid popups eating up time loading on the screen. Next time, I’m gonna make a concious effort and actually turn on the computer and load both programs way before dinner so I can just click and go. The good news however was that my cousin showed up (he does landscaping at my house) showed up shortly thereafter and we completed a massive repair job on my sprinkler valve replacement and line repair. No more changing the sprinklers over inbetween hands!
My 17 year old is getting jaw surgery today at Loma Linda. He has a huge overbite and bringing the lower jaw out a centimeter or two should fix the problem. I have to stay up here with the other two boys while wifey spends the night down in San Bernardino/Redlands. It was Last Supper from last night that made me late for the game, but it was very scrumptious…BBQ’d boneless beef ribs, string beans with onion, garlic and mushrooms, tortellini and watermellon. Good eatin’.

Another thing that we had to do yesterday morning was to pay a visit to the Juvenile Traffic Court Judge. My son got a speeding ticket last month and I figured the visit to the judge before surgery would be a good thing instead of the scheduled July 1st appearance. The judge gave a very fine lecture (the kind of lecturing I would do), but my son actually had to shut up, listen and acknowledge the judge, even when the judge stated that teens were the highest statistic in automobile related deaths, etc. “Another speeding ticket like this, and I’ll suspend your license for 3-6 months.”

After the lecture, $157 for speeding and traffic school was the result. His savings account just got a little bit lighter.
Well, here’s an update on my 17 year old son, and how it has something to do with poker (kinda)…
My kid came home Saturday afternoon after having surgery on extending his jaw and pulling out all 4 wisdom teeth…and it look’s like somebody took a mohogeny 2x4 to his left jaw and then backhanded the right jaw (at 2/3 strength) which gives him an asymmetric “elephant man” look. Not pretty. I’ve been taking a picture a day and the purple bruising is spreading around the whole jaw. Yikes. He had to use syringes to shoot water, gatorade, fruit smoothies, liquid meds, etc. all weekend long and he gets his stabilizing bands off today so he can work some mash potatoes and gravy into his mouth. So, Father’s Day was actually playing video games and watching movies with him in the house for most of the day and weekend.
So after everyone settled down for the night, I drifted to Pokertropolis at 11pm last night. Since I missed the game on Thursday, I was itching to play SOMETHING…ANYTHING. I ended up signing on and playing a 5+.50 tournament…19 people signed up (most of them from the west coast) and we played hold’em. I played conservative at first to get a feel of the players and then I started pummelling a few…especially this one clown who was mouthing off at another player and wouldn’t shut up…until I took all of his chips…very satisfying.
I got up to the #2 spot with 9 players left, and I was dealt 77. The flop came up AAQ. I was betting against the #3 player who was $100 below me. I bet the pot after he checked and he matched. Turn was an A. I got a full house. He checks again and I potted again…he matches. River was a rag. I went all in thinking my 77 would be enough…he matches. I GOT SLOWPLAYED BIGTIME…he had the other A!
Damn. Just Damn. $100 left from $3800. Big ouch. Never recovered. But before that hand, I felt very much in control of the game and I know I can do better next time. I owe it all to youze guyz. I don’t know who won because there were three left at 1am, one of them was the guy who knocked me out. The payout was $47.50, $28.50 and $19.00. It was fun though, and I didn’t see any bots on that game either…there was alot of jawing going on there with that one idiot.
That $.99 tourney (at 6pm PST) looks interesting…Duke, are you still doing those? I is a contender!
I purchased the MAB this weekend and will have it onhand for this Thursday. I will now have a +3 to hit on all straight and flush draws and +3 saving throw vs. all bluffs. And the MAB lubrication will give all enemies +3 saving throw vs. abrasions, chaffed skin and hemorroids.
Be afraid…be VERY afraid.

Man, I feel horribly for your son. Getting my wisdom teeth out was a nightmare, but I was never reduced to syringe feeding (then again I didn’t have the jaw problems he did). Well if he’s almost up to mashers, I’m sure Bubble Yum’s right around the corner.
No rake on that $.99 cent tourney…$100 guaranteed payout…Duke’s played one or two of these now…he knows more about it than I do.
I’d have to say anybody in our little SDMB tourney would be a contender in these. The $.99 are the main ones I have been playing, I did a lot better in the $10 I entered, just 1 place out of the $$.
After starting to play the limit ring games, though, the tourneys seem like a lot of work for the payout.
Let me know if you decide to play the $.99 tonite, I’ll play. I didn’t see bots in the 10 tourney, but will guarantee you will see them in .99. But they don’t DO anything, they seem to be there just to keep the chair warm. I’ve never seen one act on ANY hand. So they aren’t any threat that I can tell.
And about them beats.
Last Thursday, after I was rudely dispatched on a major suck out by Asterion, I went to playing in a $1~2 Limit game. And was doing pretty good.
I got an A2, only a couple of guys paid to see the flop. Flop AA2. Great, full boat on the flop. I bet and MadMan raises. What’s he got? A2? 22? I ain’t skeered either way, so I re-raise, we go back and forth to the max. Turn comes K, MadMan goes off again. Now he might have K’s full, but I have A’s full. So I bet, raise, whatever. River another K.
Sumbich had pocket K’s. Tuke the Duke’s $$$.
There’s usually about 250+/- players in these, they never get close to 1000. Seems like $35 or so for 1st, they pay down to about 7 places IIRC.
The .99 I entered was 240 people, payouts to 17th place(about 4.50 for that). I came in 27th in it. I entered one of the $5 ones the other day, came in 5th, with top 3 cashing.
Tell you what…I’m signing up now for tonight’s .99 tournament. I'm doing payroll tonight at the office and that would make for a lovely break. I will also be on AIM so we can talk about who's in what place and who sucks the most. I see that the start time is 6pm (PST) and is the only .99 tournament listed. See you Dopers there!
