(During the last episdoe of ‘help me find a place to live in San Diego’ we all discussed good vs. bad neighborhoods)
Well in my search for a place to live out there I found quite a few all around the neighborhood where 48th and university ave intersect. This is just a bit to the east of north park (where Esprix told me to look.) I was wondering if this was a decent neighborhood ro what? It looks like it’s right in the middle of everything, which is what I’m accustomed to… Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
La Jolla right out of the gate? Not unless he’s working at or going to school at UCSD he’s not.
La Mesa is a decent enough area, although I don’t know a whole heck of a lot about it. If you want to be “central,” that or University Heights or North Park are all good places to be.
48th and University doesn’t sound very good to me. I went to junior high on 54th and El Cajon (El Cajon is 3 or 4 blocks from University), and it was in a lousy section. Not the worst, (Logan Heights for example), but not the greatest either. Also, 48th and Univ isn’t really close to Kensington. Kensington is nice, but alot of older folks there. Kensington is just east of 40th street (now highway 15, I believe) centered around Adams. (Adams is 3-4 blocks north of El Cajon, opposite direction of University).
Also, 48th and Univ is way far away from La Mesa.
What do you want in the way of area? Around SDSU or UCSD are cool if you’re into a young scene. In general, north and east are nicer.
I grew up in Normal Heights, close to 805 & 8. That’s about a mile and a half north west of 48th and University. Not a horible area.
Ahh, the place I found that I thought was Clairemont sounds more like normal heights… It’s hard to tell where neighborhods start and stop when you’re looking at a map
