I’m not sure if anyone is still watching Prison Break, but I am, unfortunately I missed the very first episode so I’ve always been really unsure of what’s going on with the Vice President and her team of evil henchmen.
Who was Lincoln Burrows supposed to have killed? And why does the VP care so much?

You didn’t miss much - the VP wasn’t revealed as part of the conspiracy until several episodes into the series.
Linc was arrested for killing her brother. The prosecutors had video evidence of him walking into a parking garage, up to the VP’s brother’s car, and shooting him. Then he was arrested at home in possession of clothes soaked in the victim’s blood.
As to why the VP cares so much… well, one, because he was her brother. But according to Agent Hale, he’s not really dead. There is some kind of big conspiracy going on wherein she wants it to look like he’s dead, and wants Linc to fry for it, but we’re not exactly sure why (but it’s related to her Presidential campaign, apparently).
Yeah, that’s the part I don’t get. Its her brother, but she seems to be in on it, as if she wanted him dead? But he’s not dead, and she doesn’t want anyone to know?
Nitpick. The video showed Linc walking up to the car and pointing the gun, but did not show him actually firing a shot. The video was faked. Can’t remember what explanation he gave for the clothes, but IIRC they weren’t “soaked in blood.” He’d washed them, and the cops found the wet clothes with blood traces on them.
I think she wanted him “dead” because of his shady business deals and corruption that would hurt her campaign. But she didn’t want him dead dead, hence the conspiracy and Lincoln frame up.
The real VP brother is living on an island somewhere.
Or not… I only half watched last weeks episode. They exhumed the body and a Doctor said it was the right guy…part of the conspiracy I assume.
Right, I forgot to mention that the video was a fake. But there was a shot fired, wasn’t there? I remember the forensic video guy pointing out that there was no echo, which there should have been.
And I think that the bloody clothes were planted in Linc’s bathtub, and he had just discovered them when the cops burst in to arrest him. I honestly don’t remember if they were “blood-soaked”, “blood-splattered,” or “lightly bloodied.” 
During one part of Veronica’s (the lawyer girlfriend) conspiracy investigation with the guy from “project freedom”, they discovered that the brother’s company had been a big money sink, with contributions from a lot of investors. With his death, the money kind of “disappeared”. They then saw the VP on TV, where it was being reported that she was running for president with (IIRC) “the largest warchest of any candidate”.
Lincoln’s story was that he went to the garage to kill the guy (to clear a debt he owed to some bad people), but he was already dead in the car. The security video was faked to make it look like he shot. Of course, soon after determining this, the video is destroyed by a convenient water leak in evidence storage.
There was also a tip that during the autopsy of the brother, the pathologist found the appendix, however, the VP’s brother had his removed as a child. They exhumed the body and did another examination, where it was determined that the teeth of the body matched brother’s dental records.
So it seems that the plan was:
Spoiler for this week’s (4/3) episode: They show the VP talking to a person in a big chair, who then put’s in a set of dentures (full uppers) and called her Dear Sister. So they definitely faked his death
It seems like an overly complicated plan, but that seems a common failing of TV / movie villians.
The shot was the only fake part of the video – Lincoln was all set to do the deed, but when he approached the car, there was already a dead body in the driver’s seat. He raised the gun, did a double take, and then got the f*ck out of dodge, so it was easy-peasy to add a muzzle-flash and sound (what kind of parking garage CCTV records audio?) to the video. It’s a little unclear how this behaviour was expected, but whaddya gonna do? Maybe they were originally planning to hit the part of the tape where he walked up to the car with the gun in his pocket, went :eek: and ran away with a bulk eraser, or hire the folks who made Gene Kelly bust some updated moves, and then just went with an easy solution when it presented itself.
