My question is: Why did the Knoellers legally adopt the nutty Nazi prison inmate? They’re both lawyers, what legal advantage does it give them?
Knoller and Noel claimed that they adopted the prisoner because they would have standing to look after his health care in prison and to sue the State of California in case of any accident or untimely death.
Something my sister-in-law legal professor told me, “Just because people are lawyers doesn’t make them smart.”
while being the person’s attorney gains a certain level of access to the person in a prison setting, the adoption adds in issues that may have other impact, such as the aforementioned right to sue, survivorship issues (that goes both ways - ie, if the attorneys died w/o a will, an adopted son can be the ‘next of kin’.).
I"m uncertain, given the relative ‘yech’ factor involved w/all parties, which side was looking for the ‘benefits’ of surviorship.
Not sure if you heard, but it’s been clear from what’s reported that all three were involved in some twisted 3-way sexual thing. I don’t know the details, but the white-power inmate had nude photos of Knoller, and Noel has written saying that he wanted to mamke the inmate (forgot his name, sorry) part of the family in the only way that he could.
What messed up people.
