The sides of beef are hanging, but nobody's home.

I walked by a relatively new restaurant/butcher concept restaurant in my neighborhood today. It was closed and a sign said something to the effect of “we are closed briefly for repairs, but we will be open again soon.”

About 60% of the time I see these signs on restaurants it means they have run into some sort of trouble and they end up never reopening. All indications seem to say that’s what’s going on here - there’s no specific estimate of when they will reopen, there was no sign of repairs about to be done, and another weird thing was all the meat they still had hanging in the see through walk in - I just though that was weird for some reason.

I hope my hunch is wrong here, it looked pretty good but I never got a chance to go.

Could be fake plastic “hanging meat scenery”.

You’d think beef curtains would have been a pretty effective advertising gimmick.

The other 40% of the time, “Closed briefly for repairs” seems to mean fumigation.

It made me want to be a patron; but I think I may be part of a small demographic.
