Were we supposed to be more interested in the Homer-sells-mattresses subplot than the Bart-sucks-at-baseball main plot? I did like the ending with Marge and Homer.
I liked the fact that there was no joy in the LoveJoy’s love.
I thought the montage of failed-hits-to-Bart was hilarious. I also loved “That’s an E-3 if you’re keeping score at home… and if you are, your loneliness saddens me.”
I know its only one joke out of many, but a show like the Simpsons, no matter what year, should never ever include a Kevin James type “where’s the tired husband chair” (at the department store) stupid observational humour joke.
I thought the mattress gag was hysterical. Bart & Baseballl, not so much.
“And here’s the sunrise- brought to you by God, the invisible guy you turn to when you die!”
I liked the callback to Farmer Dan’s Pork Sausage, especially since the announcer was a parody of Vin Scully.
Ah, but that wasn’t there just as a gag, but as a Plot Device. (And an excuse for Chief Wiggum to pull his gun on Homer.
