The Simpsons Tonight

Compared with the last few episodes, I thought this one was very good. I laughed out loud no less than a half dozen times, which is a positive sign. For that matter, Malcolm in the Middle, which I generally hate, was good too. Your thoughts?

I agree. I thought this was one of the funnier Simpsons I’ve seen recently.

I was just going to do a thread about this…

This was the BEST Simpsons since… well it’s been a long time.

It had the formula that worked for so many Simpsons before last season

I loved it too.

“It’s a nude, female firehouse!”

“The strongest muscle is the human heart!”
“What about the weiner? A man on TV lifted a paint can with his!”

The look on Bart and Lisa’s faces after Homer injected himself killed me.

Anybody else notice the “Toys L Us” in the background as the family walked through China Town?

The “Tibet-town” gag & Homer’s “Mmmmmmmmm… pistol-whip…” were beautiful. And of course Homer & Marge traumatizing Ned. Loved it.

Snake: “Yeah, so I told the guard I was going out for some cigarettes, then I totally stabbed him. Haw!”

“But I can change. I’m totally taking classes in computer freud.”

Heheheheheheh.

The Simpsons is back, methinks.

Hmmm. I think I made a fraudulant slip.

“Do you think they heard us?”

BEST quote whole show

Fun Does Not Have A Size.

I almost fell off my chair as first Bart then Lisa and then Ned sat there wide eyed after “The Event.”

And one reason this one rocked so? No celebrity guest. A good sign these past few years.

Julia Louis-Dryfus (sp?) isn’t a celebrity?

Allow me to cover my ass which is severely hanging out now.

I did not know she was a guest star. But now that I’ll do I’ll say thank god it had no celebrity guest star on the show playing themselves. That’s always a bad sign. Mel Gibson, Ron Howard, Venus Williams, etc.

I loved this episode. AND the George Harrison dedication was great.

My wife and I were rolling on the floors. Best episode in about a year.

“Do you think they heard us?”

The look on Bart’s and Lisa’s faces . . .

Anyone else notice the “Nuke Canada” video game in the bowling alley?

We had a hot debate about this in the house-- was this actually a GOOD episode, or was it simply good in comparison to the CRAP they’ve been doing lately? Was it good by 2d-6th season standards, or did it only seem ‘good’ because our expectations have lowered so much?

An interesting academic question, surely, but ultimately a meaningless one. Your enjoyment is perfectly subjective, so the question of whether it was valid or not is useless – as long as the amount of your enjoyment is constant, that’s all that matters.

P.S. I liked it too.
