The Sims 2 is gold. ::does happy dance::

I pre-ordered my copy today. (For some reason, the president of the company for which I write seems to think he should get first pick to review the best games instead of us freelancers. Bastard.)

Two things from the Gamespy hands-on preview really caught my attention:

I think I also remember reading that you could import your own .avi files to the TV channels. I hope that also holds up, because I can see a really cool melding of The Sims 2 and The Movies.

Argh… It’s been a while since I’d been jonesing for this game to come out.

You’ve got me twitching again. Hell, I pre-ordered my copy back in May.

I’m not interested in this game. Not one bit. Nope nope nope. I bught every expansion pack for The Sims. I spent a lot of money, you know. I play it too much. I’m totally NOT INTERESTED, YOU HEAR ME?

Um…when is it coming out again? Just for reference’s sake.

In stores on the 17th, I believe.

Not only do I have every expansion pack except for Unleashed, but I also bought The Sims Resource compilation CDs. 3 CDs full of thousands of objects, wallpapers, floor tiles and skins. The last time I played, I actually deleted most of my user objects, because I was simply overwhelmed with the number of options I had.

The only thing I’m worried about is if my computer can take it. The old girl is on her last leg and I won’t have a new one until Feburary. She locks up on all my Sim games these days.

Knowing this will not stop me from buying and trying to load this sucker.

Here are the system specs from The Sims 2 site:

If you have a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM then you need at least:

* 800 MHz processor or better
* 256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98 or Windows 2000
* At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space

If you have a non-T&L capable video card (an Intel Extreme Graphics or a Radeon 7000/VE Series) then you need at least:

* 2.0 GHz processor or better
* 256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, or Windows 2000
* At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space

Take me to your leader!

I bought all the expansions except Superstar but never played very much; I eventually uninstalled everything and gave all the discs to my SO. Looks like I’ll get more fun out of the sequel.

Tuesday the 14[sup]th[/sup].

If you want to kick the habit, go work at EA/Maxis tech support. You’ll never want to look at the damn thing ever again.

Er… any, um, idea when one might see a Mac release?

Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!!! I’m so excited!!!

You’ll want to ask the people at Aspyr, as they’re the ones responsible for Mac versions so far. I’d guess no less than a year after the PC release though.

Count me in with the ones who can’t wait to get a hold of this one. I played a version around the beginning of the year, and it was already phenomenal – I got sucked right into it and played it for two weeks straight, as if it were a finished game. I haven’t seen more than the demos since then (the E3 demo was pretty heavily scripted so that they could be guaranteed to show off all the key points), but it looks like they’ve made it even better.

I spent the first couple of days just playing with Create-a-Sim, which is the best character creation system I’ve ever seen in a game.

Aw, dammit. I still only have Deluxe and House Party-I want to try out the rest of the expansion packs before I buy a whole new game.

I adore the Sims. I’m a download freak. In fact, I’m downloading a bunch of stuff right now.

If I can’t get my Sims 2 into some serious nasty 3d rendered porn action, then I don’t want it.

Well, it’s built on the Unreal engine so I would imagine that some genius is going to crack it open and when that happens you can bet the first thing that’ll be on the net is a sex mod. Scratch that, nude mod first, THEN sex mod.

Well, if you can import your own .avi files, I know my Sims will at least be watching a lot of nasty porn.

But won’t someone think of the Sim children?!

In a chat last month with two of the developers they said they’re hoping for a November 04 Mac release, which tells you how big the game is…it usually takes much longer for any game in the sims line to port to mac.

Anyone want to see my fledgling Sims 2 site? It’s much smaller than my Sims site, but there’s only so much you can do before a game is released without stealing pictures from other sites. www.geocities.com/simthingd2

Wow, I had no idea they planned to add multiplayer to The Sims 2 until I read your site, elfkin477.
