The bearings had gone in the old dvd drive.
I just found out that you can drag any .avi file into your Sims 2 television folder for them to watch.
Only 7 more days!
7 more days? Or is it 10? Some sources say it’s available on the 14th; others, the 17th.
Another 3 days feels like it’s a lot longer to wait to find out if it will even run on my PC. :dubious:
I believe the 17th is the in store day and the promised ship by day given by Maxis. But Maxis will be able to get it to some retailers by the 14th so they are getting it to the preorders then. That bodes well. It seems like they were easily able to meet the ship date of the 17th of September they set back in May, rather than struggling with last minute killer bugs.
My brand new video card needed new drivers! I just downloaded the demo for myst IV and it said there were newer drivers, so I went to ATI and got them. Now Prince of Persia runs, when before it would not even load correctly. I hope Sims 2 likes the new drivers.
Yep, that’s the offical word from chats with the producers. In stores for general sales by the 17th worldwide; people who pre-ordered will begin getting them the 14th or 15th. Probably really the 15th even with one-day shipping, though, since it ships the 14th. Apparently the new message boards at the sims 2 official site open on the 14th, and my guess is that the new version of Showcase will open then too. It looks much better than the current one.
To add to further confusion on the kids and death issue…

How in the hell can they become ghosts if they don’t die?! I’m hoping Lucy is correct on this one, since she’s above Kevin in the maxis rank and file…I know it’s wrong, but I want to believe that means she has a better idea of what’s going on. (I also hope they were wrong about saying there were no longer going to be triplets and bunkbeds as well. A girl can dream…)

Gamespot added some new screens within the past week, including some bloopers. For instance, this guy sticking his head trhough an oven door! :eek:

Those screen shots give the impression that you can interact with the help and that the neighborhoods are different.
I can’t wait.
The neighborhoods are like mini-sections of SimCity 4. Instead of pre-set lots, you can place lots of varying sizes wherever you want (including on hills to build really cool decks and mountain cabin type houses).
And yes, you can interact with the help. This preview from GameSpot shows the player having a dad getting it on with the maid.
Gamespy and IGN both had reviews of The Sims 2 out this weekend. Both gave it very high marks. Gotta be sure all the laundry gets folded today, and all my writing gets done on time.
Anyone else got the guide? 5 storeys on houses! Basements! Attics! 7 levels of habitable space!

This has been the best motivational tool ever. This weekend I cleaned every room in my house top to bottom, and caught up on everything that needs doing. When my copy arrives (I’m hoping Thursday. I pre-ordered it from Amazon which claims it ships on Tuesday, and I paid the extra bucks for 2-day express) I will be free and clear to enjoy my omnipotence.
God, I can’t wait.
Gamestop says that my copy has shipped! I paid for overnight, so I should see it soon!!!
I wish the RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 demo had come out today as planned. That could’ve held me over for a couple of days.
I think I’ll just have to play more Zuma.

The music videos I imported work less well(static sounding instead of music). Perhaps they’re too long?
