Goddammit, what is Bruce Arians doing? If you’re going to pass this much you need to run some slants or screens to draw the coverage back up. They went deep a few times to ostensibly set up some short stuff like a drag route or something. The d-line can just tee off on Roethlisberger in this scheme.
Congrats to the Bengals fans. The Bengals simply outplayed us.
Yep, not much more you can say than that. We didn’t play poorly so much as they executed their gameplan more effectively. Congrats, now I’m off to add FoieGrasIsEvil to my ignore list for the rest of the week.
j/k
That was NOT the same Steelers who mangled the Vikings.
Thank goodness.
Looks like the Bengals are better this regular season.
Look out in the playoffs. The Steelers are always dangerous in the playoffs, and they need only win a few more games to qualify.
Steelers getting close to playoff elimination.
I’ll take abuse from a Bengals fan, but you Lions fans can pack a lunch. The Lions might make the playoffs again before I die. I put the odds at no greater than 50/50. What do you know of playoffs?
They can still quite realistically go 12-4. No need to panic.
Thank you for an excuse to post this. Fast forward to 15 seconds for the goodies.
However, that doesn’t change the fact that the playoff picture is starting to come into form and the Steelers have to start getting on a winning streak for them to be included in it.
Oh for god sake! There are six teams in the AFC that are 6-3 or better, and one of them is the Steelers. If the season ended today, they would be in. And there are only three teams ahead of them, two only by one game. Then there are only two 5-4 teams, Jax and Houston, neither of which inspires a lot of confidence in the concept of reeling off a string of wins to jump over the Steelers or any of the other 6-3 teams.
Not a shock to see a silly comment about playoff potential from another Lions fan. Not sure how y’all know how to spell the word, really.
You’re awful defensive about football.
Oh man. This is the most comical post I’ve read today. The Steelers won their last five games before this one and you expect panic from us. How long will it take the Lions to win five? We’ll win another five in the remainder of this season.
The Lions are pining in the Fjords. They have lulled you to sleep. In a couple decades they will be contenders.
I am watching Indy and New England. it is a game which I am not familiar with. The ends hang on to the ball and people get tackled. What sport is that?
You might note that I’m not even a Steelers fan, and I know they are very likely to go to the playoffs, even without running off a string of wins.
Both the Bengals and Steelers have pretty favorable schedules the rest of the way, which is why this game was so important for both teams. I cannot believe this factoid, but this is the first time the Bengals have ever been 5-0 in their division. I guess Houston used to be pretty tough…
Yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaawwwww!
<sigh> I remember all too well the years that Cincinnati was one of the best in the AFC, but constantly had their efforts thwarted by the juggernaut that was the Steel Curtain, and usually managed to drop one or two against Houston and Cleveland as well. I’m not shocked that they have never managed a 5 - 0 record; they’ve had some pretty good teams in their division always. That’s what is so sad about the current Browns, really.
I had always assumed it had happened at least once before or something, in one of their two Superbowl appearance seasons. But no…2009 is a first! It portends great things!
In 1981, during a 12-4 season, they managed losses to BOTH the Browns AND the Oilers, if you can imagine. That despite the fact that neither team cracked .500, and the Browns were only 5-11.
In 1988, the Browns and the Oilers were both 10-6, and both made the playoffs. The Bengals at 12-4 managed losses to both again.
The good news is this: in both Super Bowl years, they swept the Steelers.
Noooooooooooo! I don’t want to make it to the Big Game only to lose it all again!
Well, actually, that’d be just fine I guess.
The game ball for that win should go to Mike Zimmer. That was a very well called game.
