The Sixburgh Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

You know, if your team hadn’t mailed it in for five straight games, you wouldn’t have to worry about the Bengals doing it once.

He’s a very underrated player. I agree his comment is senseless though, no team is afraid of the Steelers anymore. Hopefully he’s just trying to light a fire under his own guys; if they lose to Miami all the other outcomes are moot (to PGH players).

Seriously dude? That was a completely different team. Sixth seed, sure, but we were 11-5, not 9-7. And if it hadn’t been for 2 or 3 Ben interceptions and another 1 or 2 fluke plays, we would have been 13-3 and a 2 seed.

This year’s team has played far below the 2005 Super Bowl champs.

Considering that they lost all of their games by a grand total of 28 points, I wouldn’t go so far as to say they “mailed it in”. Their biggest loss all year was by a touchdown.

‘We kept it close against the Raiders, Chiefs and Browns’ isn’t exactly a great rebuttal.

WHy would Marvin Lewis show the Jets anything Sunday Night… he might be facing REx and the guys in a week or two… Thats Lamar’s problem and has been aptly noted… beat the Chiefs and the Browns for chrissakes!!!

The fact that anyone would defend Woodley’s ridiculous comment is, well, ridiculous. IF the Patriots or Bengals rest anyone, it’s because they think that’s what’s best for their team, not because of anything to do with the Steelers. He’s basically accusing both teams of tanking games, and that’s moronic and egomaniacal.

Fox Sports reports that the rest of the team is giving his idiotic comments the respect they deserve:

Nuff said. Idiot linebacker should go prep for his own game and stop thinking the entire world revolves around him and his team.

Not particularly.

Fine. I won’t argue that. But…

By definition, if you take actions that are not rooted in disciplinary matters that put your best players on the bench you are tanking the game. You are not giving your team the best chance to win the game. That is the textbook definition of tanking.

The world does revolve around him and his team. That’s his job, after all.

Because they aren’t allowed to do what they think will be best for the team next week? Would it be smart to take out Holmes and co in two days when you’re up by a commanding amount in order to ensure they don’t get hurt for the playoffs?

See, that’s not what’s at issue here. If you want to pull your starters with a “commanding lead”, have at it. The Colts pulled their starters with a whopping 5-point lead, hardly commanding, and they were widely accused of tanking. If the teams don’t even start their first string, that is textbook tanking.

We’ll find out in two days whether or not it goes down that way.

And this is so we can determine which teams “lack integrity” like the Colts do? Because they are all scared of playing the Steelers in the playoffs?

OK, I need to root against Houston and Baltimore. Rooting against Baltimore is pretty much a given.

Go Steelers!

Brett Keisel is out today as is Polamalu. Against a heavy running team I think Nick Eason will do just as good a job anyway. I’m surprised though that they didn’t choose to dress another lineman to fill the spot. I guess they’ll move Hoke to end on some downs or go with two linemen on passing downs.

I pity the guys who took the under.

Perhaps I should have been clearer. Woodley (and you defending him) accused the Pats and Bengals (pre-emptively, mind you) of tanking *because they are afraid of facing the Steelers in the playoffs. * That is what is ridiculous and egomaniacal. And, at 3:55pm Eastern time, proven to be totally false with regards to the Patriots.

You missed my point entirely. Of course for him his team is paramount, but it’s not for any other team, and that’s where he was being an idiot.

OK, Steelers win. Check.
Houston loses. Oops.
Baltimore - Oakland is trying even as we speak.

Steeler fans are being screwed with. The Ravens and Broncosr are keeping it exciting. But you need both of them to lose . If you get that unlikely event, the requirement is for the Jets to blow the 8 pm game. That would require a lot of beer.

The Chiefs are winning and Oakland is knocking on the door. It still could go our way.

Looks like Oakland will let us down - that fumble hurt.

No playoffs.
