Prince spaghetti day.
“Aaaaaannnnthony!”
I’m just confused as to how/why the smoke will dissipate and magically skip over Monday and come back Wednesday.
And jealous that I can’t skip Monday and Tuesday and reappear on Wednesday.
I just want to say that I had a trip planned to Rickett’s Glen (state park with bunches of beautiful waterfalls) for today, and took a lot of pictures. But they’re all hazy!!! I’m so mad.
Here’s a link to three that didn’t turn out too badly. I had to fiddle around with the photo editor a good deal to get that much clarity, tho.
Ottawa checking in here.
Last night was crazy. It was like the block next to us was entirely on fire! Smoke everywhere, it was like living in a cloud. You could smell it too
Look at the weather. It’s supposed to be hotter and humid with a chance of showers for a couple of days – this time of year, that means probably a prevailing southerly wind. Then it’s supposed to get cooler and clear for Wednesday – usually a northerly wind. And where’s the fire, class?
Here’s a picture I took last week of the sun. The smoke from the fires here in CO and in AZ created this unusual sunset.

I did have to color it a bit, my digi cam is not very good at picking out the true colors so I added a filter to it but it is as close as I could come to the real thing. The cam picked out mostly yellow but it was an incredible red and it’s still not even as brilliant as I remember it to be.
Haze but low humidity - that’s the kind of weather you don’t see too often around here.
I couldn’t smell anything, unlike 31 March 1999 when we had a very noticeable smoky smell all day from fires in the Shenandoah Valley.
there was a freaky orange cast to the light all day yesterday here, too. I was nervously wondering what it was. Thanks, Rasa, now I know.
shudder It’s so strange looking.
Well, we drove up into it on Saturday, and then followed it back down to Maryland today. It seemed like Delaware today was even smokier than Connecticut was on Saturday.
Hey no problem, Gravity I totally understand the how freaked out you felt! And Neidhart, you’re right–the weather yesterday looked much worse than it felt. It looked humid, but sure wasn’t.
Today was much clearer. There was a bit of a haze this morning, but it cleared as the morning went on. It was hotter today and a bit breezy so that’s probably why. They’re saying tomorrow it might get worse, and there were “air quality” warnings yesterday and today.
Glad to know it’s not a populated area. Shows how much I know about Canadian geography–pathetic, as my grandfather was Quebecois! I hope the power stations don’t take too much damage.

I saw the big orange dot of a sun on my way to work, and was pretty freaked out. Me and Jayce concluded that it was the end of the world. Personally, I like our aliens theory better than a big fire in Canada.
The haze was so weird on Sunday. Everytime I went outside I expected it to be gross and muggy. I really liked Sunday’s weather.
I did find myself humming R.E.M.'s It’s the End of the World as We Know It (and I Feel Fine) a lot that day, though…
