Episode One was the most primitive technically. Most of the segments were studio-bound, shot in front of that all-purpose cable-access backdrop: a trellis. Sondra introduced her guest, Dave Turner, a mountainous Charlie-Daniels-esque country singer, who ably began to sing the male half of the Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton duet “Islands In The Stream”. Then came time for Sondra to fill Dolly’s vocal shoes (or whatever) in a voice simultaneously so shrill and so flat that it’s remarkable Turner could remain on pitch…or refrain from crying. But Turner proved impervious enough to Sondra’s shrieks that they went on to perform two more duets (“Your Cheatin’ Heart” and “Behind Closed Doors”), with Sondra over-exaggerating her facial expressions and body movements to drive home every nuance of the songs. In “Islands In The Stream”, when she sang the lyrics “No one in between”, she waved her hands between herself and Turner like a “Price Is Right” model or David Copperfield assistant, just to make it absolutely clear that there was indeed no one standing between them.
Good luck listening to one of her songs start to finish, nobody here in the office has managed so far.
Oh my God. I read about her from Fark a few weeks ago. Hilarious!! Her mother was her “manager” - I can only imagine the family dynamic.
Can’t wait till they locate her!

Hmm…
She’s a bad singer, but the experience of watching wasn’t so baditsgood as the blogs made it out to be.
I didn’t see any terribly exaggerated facial expressions or corny clunky gestures emphasizing the meaning of the lyrics. (Except at one point, where she says “we rely on each other” in Islands in the Stream, she pats her hand on the guy’s shoulder.)
Anybody seen Tim and Eric’s fake cable show stuff? Funny stuff…

About half of it.
She just seemed stiff and awkward to me, as well as being a poor singer. Painful to watch, and a little bemusing (as opposed to amusing) but not really funny to me.

I honestly…I just…I just don’t know what to say. You’re speaking English, and I recognize all the words, but they just don’t make any sense.
That was hysterical!
Forget “Nasty Boys.” This is the best one .

My guess is that with time she got the proper perspective of her singing skills - and then left town and changed her name.
