Coolest internet toy/totally addictive time-waster I’ve seen in a loooong while.
Tap the tune of any song you can think of with your spacebar, and the Song Tapper will tell you what song it is.
Worked for me with “Old MacDonald had a Farm”, “Home” by Marc Broussard and “My Humps” by the Black Eyed Peas (hey, stop looking at me that way–it was stuck in my head!).
Well, it didn’t recognize my rendition of Warren Zevon’s “Detox Mansion”. Said it was “Don’t Get Fooled Again”. Or Henry Mancini’s “Pink Panther Theme.”
Well, for one, if you ahve a bad sense of rythm, it’s never going to guess correctly. Secondly, the more odscure a song is, the less likely it will be known. Also, if ther eis a less defined melody that can be easily tapped out, the same goes.
That being said, it didn’t know “Particle Man” by TMBG, and i was tapping along perfectly while palying it at the same time.
First thing that came into my head was to see if it could handle 5/4 time, so I tried “Living in the Past.” It gave me a whole list of possibilities:
180 Am Grandaddy
Love Generation Bob Sinclar
Illusions Cypress Hill
Stand By Me Leiber / Stoller
Welsh National Anthem
Games Without Frontiers Peter Gabriel
I Will Survive Cake
Zelda Nintendo
Carry On Angra
The only ones I know are “Stand By Me” and “Games Without Frontiers,” which are both in 4/4. If it doesn’t know Tull, it could at least have guessed “Mission Impossible.”
