Any clues about the episode title? I don’t recall any characters named Kennedy or Heidi, so I’m thinking we’ll be talking politicians and interrupted football games.
I haven’t gotten my Happy Mother’s Day phone call from one of the kids yet. If he calls during The Sopranos, am I a bad mom if I ask him to call back later?
According to a post on the IMDB board for “The Sopranos”,The title stems from two teenagers killed in an car accident caused by a drunken Christopher on a 3 day bender after the JT Dolan killing.
Seemed pretty intentional to me. Fortuitous circumstances for Tony, eh? He’s coming off like a total sociopath in this episode. He thinks everyone else’s grief is fake because his is.
Was it Christopher’s aunt who mentioned the doctors said Chris could have made it but… he didn’t? I think he could have been saved but Tony made sure he wouldn’t. And then sublimated his guilt by being angry at people who really were sad that he died.
This episode really highlighted it. And AJ is one too. That’s Tony’s real legacy to his son.
Who was the girl Tony visited? Were we supposed to know her or was this her first time on the show?
The A.J. apple doesn’t appear to be falling too far from the tree.
Maybe David Chase is trying to make us dislike Tony because he is basically a very bad man who shows some nice moments. This season is pretty much eradicating any sympathy I had for Tony.
I don’t remember her, and she sounded a little surprised that Christopher had mentioned her to Tony. If she was on before, she got by me.
I think that’s got to be the idea. Tony’s gotten to be a kid of hero to a lot of people, and while he’s ALWAYS been an unredeemable prick, maybe Chase realizes not everyone saw him that way, and is setting things right here in the end.
Wow. Well, Adrianna, thou art avenged, I guess. I’m not really sure why Tony did it - I may have missed something, maybe he thought he was sparing Chris a slower death. In any case I think they gave Chris a great final story arc, with him throwing everything away last week and then dying a meaningless death this week. Straightening that tree at the end of the episode really summed it up.
Is it usual for that much time to pass between episodes? Just a few weeks ago the tomatoes were starting, and now the pool is covered and the leaves are falling.
His absolute glee was a bit disconcerting. He told Melfi he found Chris to be an emotional drain and he thought Chris was going to rat him out due to being a weak drug addict. But still, you’re right that there was a level of barely suppressed joy (along with the openly expressed relief) about Chris’ death in Tony that seemed weird and is kind of inexplicable to me. I thought, deep down, he loved Chris. I guess, deep down, he actually hated him.
I guess I was confused as to why Tony felt he was doing it, as opposed to the different reasons under the surface. But maybe there was no difference between the two- he heard Christopher say he was high and decided he’d had enough of his irresponsibility.
I think he did, at one time, and this is making more sense to me now. The last few episodes showed that Chris resented Tony for Adriana and other things, now we know Tony felt the same way over Chris’s remoteness, unreliability and his movie.
And the last straw was Christopher turning up the music and ignoring Tony, who seemed to be trying to make some kind of connection. Tony already knew how he felt about Chris – with that little act, Tony knew how Chris felt about him.
Last episode, Tony belittled him for not being around the others during occasions where drinks and drugs where involved. Looked to me like Tony was starting to set him up for the big fall.
Was it just me, or did anyone else notice the quick look of distaste or disgust on Dr. Melfi’s face when Tony talked about how relieved he was at Christopher’s death.
To my shame, I laughed after A.J.'s Rodney King moment with his therapist.
All I gotta say - they were playing “Space Invader” by the Pretenders in the background after Tony and the… goomar? got it on. That was bad ass.
The light again… is Kevin Finnerty re-emerging? Or is Ton’ still in the coma? The first light was the same one when he was on the OR table. The second was like the lighthouse, pulsating light. Hmmm…
