I’m reading the book “Stiffed” by Susan Faludi and she keeps mentioning these guys who called themselves “the Spur Posse,” high school students who kept score of the number of girls they had slept with as a form of competition between themselves. Some of these young men were apparently arrested for various sexual offenses, though none of them were ever sentenced to anything. Supposedly the “Spur Posse” appeared on many television shows during the early 90s and had gained a degree of fame and notoriety, being featured in magazines and newspapers regularly.
However, I can find next to no information whatsoever on these guys on the internet. Does anyone know if there’s a source with more info on them? Where are these guys now?
I remember those stories. There’s an article on Wikipedia on them, which links to several news stories on the subject from March-June 1993.
It may not be a source you have access to, but I’ve found a large group of articles on them through the Lexis-Nexis newspaper search engine, dating largely either to 1993 (when the scandal broke out in Lakewood, California) or 1999 (when the Faludi book was published).
As to the question of “Where are they now?”, other than a brace of references to one of them being murdered a couple of years later (which, BTW, also confirms television appearances), the articles on Lexis-Nexis do not include anything of that nature, and I assume it isn’t something that those involved (whom, by my math, should be in their early thirties if still alive) would like to broadcast.
