The stabbing of host Joey Greco on "Cheaters" (spoiler warning, of course)

Did anyone else watch this last night? I was floored! Joey Greco, host of “Cheaters” was in the middle of a routine confrontation on a boat in the middle of a lake when Bam! He gets stabbed in the stomach, a cameraman gets thrown overboard, and chaos ensues. It was the most shocking episode of “Cheaters” I have ever seen!

Joey Greco was later diagnosed in the ambulence with a three inch puncture wound to the abdomen, and a collapsed lung. The person who did the stabbing (it was the person doing the cheating) was quickly subdued and placed into police custody.

Yeah, I saw it, was flicking channels late at night.

I think the “Crew” crossed the line though. They stormed that guy’s boat uninvited and then proceeded to harass him. They then refused to leave after he told them to do so.

The Cheaters crew was acting like a gang of low-life thugs badgering this guy about his lack of morality.

The stabbing was a little much, but I’d be pretty pissed off too if a bunch of assholes barged into my house and started yelling at me about my personal life.

But, see, if they handled it any other way, it wouldn’t have been nearly as entertaining!

Have you ever watched the show? Behavior like this is commonplace with the Cheaters crew and its host. I’m suprised nobody got hurt before now, tbh.

IDBB

They got very close one time. They were in the middle of a confrontation when the cheater brandishes a gun! The “Cheaters” cleared out very quickly after that.

Wow, this is just too much schadenfreude. Who to feel superior to? The two-timing psychopath on the boat, or the celebrity busybody who got shivved? They’re both so revolting…

Indeed. To me the whole show is like a shit sculpture, lovingly hand-crafted into a masterpiece!

There’s some speculation that it was faked. See here.

Reasons listed include:

[ul]
[li]no police[/li][li]private ambulance[/li][li]two cameras in ambulance (?!)[/li][li]EMTs not removing clothing after complaint of shortness of breath[/li][li]no local media news reports[/li][/ul]

To me it doesn’t matter very much. If it is faked, then at least it made for a riveting episode. If it was not faked, then it was indeed a riveting episode!

cheaters is based here in dallas and several local folks have come out saying they were paid to be on the show. Infact, some of them had never met their “cheating boyfriends” before the show.

Ok, I wanna see someone get stabbed too! What’s this “Cheaters” thing?

Max, check out their website. “Cheaters” is a “reality show” where people who suspect infidelity from their SOs can get them investigated. If there is evidence of cheating (and there always is), they give people the opportunity to confront their cheating spouse. And it is all captured on camera!

If there is evidence of cheating (and there always is) Presumably those for whom no evidence is found are not put on the air?

Correct!

I remember reading some of this discussion after this episode originally aired many weeks ago. I wanted to start a thread about it here, but was kind of ashamed to admit that I even watch this stupid show, especially after I had already started a thread about
Paradise Hotel

One other thing that sounded fishy about the Joey Gets Stabbed episode was that, in the wrap up at the end of the show, the narrator said that they couldn’t find out any more information about possible criminal charges against the “alleged” perpetrator because they didn’t have “standing” to find out. This is BS. Although there may be certain very narrow exceptions related to minors, etc., if someone is charged with a crime in this country, it is a matter of public record. Anybody has “standing” to ask whether an individual has been charged with a crime, whether and when trial or pre trial hearings are pending, etc.

Since the episode first aired, there has been, AFAIK no update on Joey’s condition. I’m inclined to think that the whole thing was fake.

I used to like this show more, but it is getting old. Now that I have a tivo, I just fast forward through all the preliminaries and get right to the confrontations. But now even those are kind of boring.
