The Supertramp List: A Means of Judging Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Candidates

It’s an interesting question for the Hockey Hall of Fame - should Paul Henderson be in there? His NHL career was good, but not great - however, “If there’s a goal that everyone remembers/It was back in '72”… I think he’ll get inducted at some point, but the HHOF is very much focused on the NHL, and likely will be for quite some time.

Getting back to the original topic - yes, I think the Supertramp List is an excellent basis for discussing who should/should not be inducted without the discussion devolving into questions of personal taste.

In arts grants discussions, a post-project assessment always consists of looking at three aspects of a project - attendance, critical reviews, and artistic influence. Ideally, any project will have a measure of success in all three categories, but it reflects the idea that different projects will have had different merits, and that’s okay…

I don’t necessarily disagree with that; there are certainly some acts currently in the Hall that I don’t like, and feel are overrated (though I don’t think my list would be anywhere close to 135 of them). And, the replies to that post have generally agreed that some of the acts listed in that article are likely deserving of induction.

But, your earlier post, referring to that list of 135 acts, didn’t say that; you said:

(I’m guessing that “instead and those” was meant to be “instead of those”)

I read that post as “I prefer these 135 acts, as that list stands, to the acts that are currently in the Hall.”
