Here’s another little known hero. A Japanese “Schindler”:

I feel like these heroes are the normal, sane people with an actual conscience, and the myriad others who couldn’t (and can’t!) see their way to saving hapless refugees are guilty, guilty, guilty.

ETA the Swiss government initially censured Lutz. WTF.

The Philippines accepted 1300 Jewish refugees, with plans to admit up to 10,000, until the outbreak of war. The refugees fared better under Japanese occupation than they would have in Hitler’s Germany.
