Read up on the history before you go. A train line was constructed from Chicago to the lake, and when the Chicago fire razed many homes, like those of the Macy and Wrigley families, they took refuge on the shores of Lake Geneva. It’s so cool to see those ancient mansions from the lake.

Nothing about this is safe. It’s a great example of how flipping dangerous life was a hundred years ago

You should take 4 minutes out of your life and watch the video. I think getting a paper cut might be more of a danger to these kids than getting sucked into the hull.

They may be in greater danger going to high school.

I don’t know - the one kid who “missed” the jump back onto the boat looks like he nearly hit his head on the boat. Even if that was staged, it wasn’t risk free.

Having said that, there are plenty of common recreational activities that are at least as dangerous.

I watched the video. The dangers, as I have explained them, are very obvious to me. Seems like the kind of job (not recreational activity) that can turn from “This is a blast!” to “Oh my fucking god call an ambula—no, wait, never mind. Call a hearse…” very quickly.

Employers should be required to ensure working conditions are safe for their employees.

I must have missed the part of the video where they showed the open exposed prop on the boat and the giant suction vents on the underside of the hull.
