The Tequila Funeral March . . . "Te . . . quila . . ."

Today’s obscure obit:

That is really cool. I’ve got no patience for artists who refuse to play their “big hit” because they’re tired of it, or want to prove their multi-dimensionality, or some such. If “Tequila” is the song that packs the crowds in, play it for them. Good for him.

True. Artie Shaw–a notable sonofabitch–refused to play “Begin the Beguine” after awhile, no matter how his fans begged for it.

That song is on the list of music that MUST be played at my memorial service. Those who know me understand why.

He refused to Begin the Beguine when they requested it, and he made an embarassing scene if anyone suggested it - and Eve detested it!

That was quite good! An homage to Nina from Agentina, perhaps?

I wonder how his contract handled the royalties for that song? Lot’s of artists from that era got royally screwed on their royalties, minority artists were particularly victimized. That’s one of the reasons why John Fogerty doesn’t like playing CCR songs any more.

Just a reminder, people. Board policy prohibits posting the complete lyrics to a song although fair use of a portion of the lyrics is allowed. So please remember to refer to the song as “Tequi-” when discussing it.

I wonder if Paul Rubens will attend the funeral?

Eve
Interesting celebrity information (too bad I am learning this from an obituary though).

And damned good for him that he never tired of the song.
Tony Bennett when asked “Does it get boring singing ‘I Left My Heart In San Francisco’ so often?” replied “Does it get boring making love?”
