Can you believe that New England might have a losing record in about 10 minutes? Unbelievable. Whodathunkit? It looks like that early game against Pittsburgh hurt them badly with the season ending injuries.
Or not. Good comeback. Still, 4-3 for the Patsies? Wow.
I guessed I missed out. New England was looking bad when I went to bed, but I see today that they won. Anyone see what went on with the Packers? Something about a fan jumping on the field? Did it really make a difference?

AFC East is looking pretty bad. Besides the records, look at the points against! At least they’re not the NFC West.
Speaking of West, look at the points for in the AFC West.
An interesting year in the NFL so far.
Baltimore’s own Lazy Lewis and Chester D Molester look to upend the vaunted Steel Curtain tonight at Three River’s Stadium* and take firm hold of Next to Last Place! Will the Bus commute a score? Has Fast Willie Parker lost his speed? In an interview earlier today, Coach Cowher said, “It ain’t gonna happen. ::chew chew chew:: You get that? Ain’t no ways no how ::chew chew chew:: I’m ready for tonight! Got my gum, got my face. LOTS of grimaces! You’ll see! You’ll see…”
In other NFL news, Farve hits side of barn, guarantees late season success.
Forgot my footnote!
*yes, I know. See the link.
Speaking of the Patriots (and boy do they suck too), anyone catch the penalty early in the game, where the Patriots were flagged for committing “an unnatural act”? Beautiful. Funniest thing I’ve seen at a football game in a long time.
As to the fan running on the field - he ran up and took the ball from Favre. I couldn’t see that it had any meaningful effect except to give the Packers a stoppage and chance to think things through while time was running out. Didn’t really help too much. Favre looked horrible, and he did that throwing the ball after he’s way over the line of scrimmage thing again. Sad.

Movie file, Farve and fan.
I don’t suppose anyone here was at the stadium for that, were they? I just heard Carson Palmer on the NFL Network saying how he “can’t get the hit that guy took out of [his] head”. That hit, of course, will never be shown on TV. Just curious if it was a player or security that put a lick on the guy.
As for tonight…I’m in a pool with 52 friends and neighbors. We’ve got one guy who went 12 out of 13 yesterday, while my wife went 11 out of 13. Fortunately, this guy is the only one in the entire pool to pick Baltimore. Coincidentally, both he and my wife picked a final score of 51 (insanely high, if you ask me). So, a Pittsburgh win tonight will make it a tie, handing both he and my wife $132.50. We’ll take it. Go Steelers!!
I think only half – the defensive half – of the Patriots suck. The offense continues to amaze. Last night the Bills had basically a two-to-one time of possession advantage, and STILL lost. When the Patriots’ offense is on the field, they tend to score. The trouble is getting the defense off the field. Of course, it would help if they could stop going through defensive backs the way the rest of us go through Kleenex.
That “unnatural act” thing was a head-scratcher for sure. (Though I think he might have said “uncommon act.”) Whatever.
Okay, now I’ve got to know what the penalty was. I’m looking at the play-by-play and don’t see any penalties along those lines.
It must be either the encroachment or one of the delay of games.
Judging by the response from the commentators, I took it that the wording of the rule is “uncommon act.” Apparently it is a rule prohibiting the defense from making an unusual sudden movement to try to draw someone on the offense to jump. But the ref clearly said that the defender committed an “unnatural act,” to the delight of myself, Thiessman, McGuire and the other guy.
From what I heard on the radio this morning, it’s been 3 years since the Steelers have had a home game on Monday Night Football. The Steelers have been encouraging the fans to come in costume, so the crowd should look interesting.
CJ
I have heard, on the other hand, that no masks will be allowed, only face-paint. Since the Steelers are going to be honoring Myron Cope tonight as well, someone had floated the idea of distributing Myron Cope masks, but unfortunately this would be prohibited, apparently.
Nah, I think your wife is right on…Steelers 42, Ravens 9.
You’ve heard right. Amusingly, costumes must also be “in good nature”.
I can imagine. Anyone got a clip?
In the Giants game, Willy Ponder got an amusing scolding from the ref during his call.
The Redskins received a kickoff, bobbled it, and wound up in the end zone. Several Giants were closing fast, so the return man took a knee. As he did so, Ponder bumped him and the return man did a nice acting job, rolling back ass over teakettle. Out comes the laundry.
“Personal foul…kicking team…number 87…He didn’t have to run into his man like that!”
Well, kids, the rout is on. They went through the Ratbirds like shit through a goose. I wonder what the problem is with the Ravens? Oh, that’s right. Ray Lewis is hurt, so he didn’t get to inspire his mates with that epileptic seizure that he has before every game. No wonder they’re so flat.
Damn, I sure hope Ben isn’t hurt. Batch and Maddox would hand the game over on a silver platter.
And I love how our pass defense decides to just not show up on certain plays. This is becoming a bad habit for us.
