The third jab of Pfizer

Thank you! That’s good to know. I had a rough go after Spikevax #2 and have been dreading dose #3 in another month, but you’ve given me hope.

May it go well.

Got my flu and first 2 Pfizer jabs as soon as they were available, without incident. Getting my booster Wednesday. Asked my PCP if they can also schedule my 18yo daughter for the booster. She has moyamoya disease putting her at high risk. She had her last mm stroke, triggered by the flu, at 15 months. We immediately scheduled her for two brain revascularization surgeries (1 week apart) at Boston Children’s Hospital. The wait before the operations and post-op periods were the most scared I’ve ever been. We’ll “breath” a little easier when we get the boosters.

Got my third jab at CVS this morning. So far no effects. They gave me a coupon good for $5 off a $20 purchase, good online or in store; apparently everyone who gets a flu or covid shot gets one.

I asked about the shingles shot, and they advised waiting two weeks “just to be on the safe side”.

Why didn’t I get a CVS coupon? I feel cheated.

My daughter (nurse) and her husband (doctor) returned from vacation yesterday and got their third doses.

They were on vacation in part as a protest against their unvaccinated coworkers continued employment. They were told they couldn’t take their scheduled vacation; they took what they’d scheduled and tacked an additional week on, daring the hospital to fire them. Spoiler: they weren’t fired.

I had an appt this morning at Walgreens for the third dose. The pharmacist/technician wouldn’t do it because it was two weeks to the day shy of being six months since the second dose.

24 hours out from jab # 3. Husband has chills like last time. Me, just two sore arms. Now running out to spend my CVS coupons

I was two weeks shy as well. CVS didn’t care. I scheduled it online.

I sang about my chills and fever after my third Pfizer.

When you hold my hand
Tell me that I’m your lover man
Kiss me and squeeze me tight
Tell me baby, wanna love all night?
I get low, chills and fever
Oh, chills and fever
Oh, chills and fever
Chills and fever’s what you give to me

That’s the rub. I scheduled my Walgreens appt online, and one of the screening questions was the date of the second dose, which I entered. Their system let me make the appt anyway. It was only after I made the effort to get to the store did they turn me away. I’ll be going elsewhere.

I got my booster this morning. A little after six months after the second Pfizer dose. So far so OK.

I didn’t get any coupon for CVS. I feel deprived. —Perhaps this has to do with my having gone to Rite Aid instead of CVS, however. What do you think?

I’m surprised they let you. Did you say you were immune compromised, or click the other box? Because immune compromised doesn’t have the 6 month wait, but everyone else does.

Ahhh, I was wondering. I checked the immunocompromised block. My card had the dates of my first two and I was a week or so early for the 6 month thing. No questions, I was given the vaccination.

Just reporting for whoever might be keeping track of these things:

Mrs. Cretin and I (ages 75 and 71) walked in to RiteAid yesterday morning, with our Medicare and Vaccination cards, seven months since our Pfizer vaccinations.
Got the Pfizer booster and the Flu shots (on different arms).
We both had had almost no reactions to the first vaccinations; today, 24 hours after the booster, our arms are more sore than the first times, and I feel a little weak and out of it. No big deal. Aside from the lingering arm soreness, Mrs. Cretin feels fine.

Got my Covid booster and flu shot yesterday morning. I’m a bit of an outlier, having gotten my second Pfizer shot in January, so I am almost 9 months out.

As far as side effects, I’m just experiencing “prodromal malaise” (i.e. the just-starting-a-cold feeling) 12 hours out; I suppose it could be due to either or both shots. Definitely more severe than with Pfizer #2, but I’ve got Tylenol on board and I’m at work as usual.

I got Pfizer #3 at 9:30am today. I ticked several boxes for eligibility. I work with unvaccinated kids in a juvenile correctional facility, and I am immunocompromised due to being spleen-free.

Six hours out from getting the shot, I just have a sore arm. I think the nurse jabbed me right in my childhood polio vaccination scar!

I should also be getting shingles shot #2 coming up in a week, and sometime soon I will get my flu shot, too.

Where I work the Pharmacy accepts walk-ins. But then, we get a lot of traffic, many people every day with both appointments and as walk-ins.

Including me today - got my #3 after my shift ended.

So far nothing to report.
