The Third Jihad-recommended viewing

No, of course not. No one has watched the video. Why do that, when the snark is so much easier?

But how’s the beat? Can you dance to it?

Because informed snark is so much better than ignorant snark. But that assumes that one cares about the quality of one’s snark. Which, from the evidence here, doesn’t seem to be a popular position.

Tossing a softball to the *special *kid gives me a warm gooey feeling.

There. I did it again.

And more informative.

The first thing the narrator talks about is the Beslan school massacre - he does not mention Chechnya, just that the attackers were Muslim.

Anyway, I have to say that I think that Radical Islam is totally awesome. Dude.

That’s funny, what was that movie “quiet, he getting ready to speak” Actually boner, re-read what is the que, When we get a few people commenting on this… then stand back cuz I’m getting ready to do some serious copy/pasting.

I even made it red so you can see it this time…

Eh fights alein religions and doesn’t afraid of anything.

That’s just off the hook! :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow. One mild compliment compliment makes your pussy drip? Guess that’s both a good thing and a bad thing, huh?

Skeleton10, I think you’re operating under the impression people are just dying to know what you think about this - or that you are building up some kind of suspense. The longer you withhold your opinion, the more people are going to make fun of you for being pompous. Which is not to say that everybody’s going to take you seriously when (or if) you do explain what you think of the video. But if you want to start a conversation you need to start it yourself. You’re the one who opened the thread and posted the link.

True. But it certainly wouldn’t hurt if people actually watched the video. Any discussion of it, or his opinion of it, necessitates it actually [shudder] be watched. I’m tickled that people are so afraid of a little video. But not concerned with the radical Islamic elements it comments on.

Only in echo chamber of the Straight Dope…

Serious recommendation: Skeleton10, you’re really barking up the wrong burqa by putting this in the Pit. If you want people who will actually watch this, and then discuss it in depth, post this (along with a real OP, not just a “well, lookee whut I found!”) in Great Debates.

Yup.

Thank you for that insight Marley but really do I need to express myself as to my opinion, the documentary speaks it for me. What else can I say that will add to or take away from what M. Zuhdi Jasser is trying to convey? The very reason I left this open ended was that I don’t want to appear to be selling something, I didn’t make the film.

I happened across it the other day and was compelled to finish the entire film and all because I see things happening in my neck of the woods. How many of us would have scoffed at a film representing Islamic extremists crashing perfectly good planes into perfectly good buildings prior to?

Hell no, this can never happen…why can’t it?

Well, it’s an improvement.

And doesn’t take half an hour.

Honestly, it’s nothing to do with the contents of the video. Which should be obvious, as pretty much no one here (myself included) has watched it. It could be talking about how wonderful and peace loving Muslims really are, or an instructional video on how to make a really good creme brulee, or a teaser trailer for a new Firefly movie, and the OP would be receiving largely the same reaction. It’s an etiquette thing. Posting blind links with no commentary is considered gauche around here, and refusing to explain the link (particularly with that, “I don’t want to influence opinions,” bullshit, like the OP is E.F. fucking Hutton, or something) is seen as especially gauche. So, at this point, all anyone is going to want to talk about is how big a gauchebag the OP is, because that’s almost certainly going to be more entertaining than whatever he originally wanted to talk about.

So, Skeleton, think of this as an object lesson. As the OP, you need to set the tone and direction of any thread you start. If you don’t do this, you’ve got no way of knowing where the thread is going to end up. And in the Pit, it’s almost certain to end up as an exercise in creatively abusing the OP. Next time, don’t expect folks to play guessing games. Stake out a position in your first post. Explain why you feel that way. By all means, link to material that you feel supports your argument, but don’t let the links act as a substitute for content. Put yourself out there, or no one is going to take you seriously.

Lesson learned…“I gots ta know”
