the three tenors..friends or foes or?

Having a horrible memory, I could not come up with 2 of the 3 Tenors namelys Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras…I did remember Placido Domingo…I looked at his web site and found no mention of the 2 other tenors under his biography.

Googled out the other 2 names and noticed no more 3 tenor concerts since mid 2005.

Has there been a fallout amongst the Three Tenors? Are they still professional friends? social friends?

Thank you in advance…I’m not into Opera so I have no clue as to the answers to my questions…Please help.

I believe Pavarotti is currently on his Farewell Tour, and looking forward to retirement (he’s 70 years old). He’s also had several illnesses in the last few years that have kept him from performing.

Pavarotti said last year he would end his singing career with concerts in either Milan, London, Vienna or New York - one of the venues where he made his name during the early days of his career.

He also said he planned to play at least one more Three Tenors concert with Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo.

The trio last performed together in the UK in the city of Bath in August 2003. Pavarotti pulled out of a Three Tenors concert in Mexico in June 2005 on doctor’s advice after contracting laryngitis.

The Three Tenors became a worldwide phenomenon with a series of concerts in the 1990s, selling millions of albums.

Actually, my understanding was that the leukemia was the start of the concerts in the first place. Domingo and Pavarotti had no use for each other prior to that, but both were friends of Carreras, who asked them if they could all sing together since he didn’t know if the cancer was going to get him.
