Back when I was in primary and high school, I wore a tie as part of the school uniform, so I’ve known how to tie my own tie as long as I can remember – not that it’s a very difficult process to learn.
I tie it myself, without a mirror (I might use the reflection in the office window to check the knot is straight, if I’m not sure)
I like ties, they can easily spice up a dull suit. I learned how to tie one in the cub scouts. I do need a mirror to tie my own tie though
I can tie it myself, but I have no idea what the name of the knot is, or how to make the other knots, or whether the one I’m using is the best one for me.
I use a mirror, only to make sure it’s straight. I can’t imagine a grown man needing someone else to tie his tie. Come to think of it I must have learned very young, because I don’t remember a time when someone had to do it for me.
I haven’t worn a tie regularly in quite some time, but I just checked and I can indeed still tie a full windsor without a mirror and have it come out looking decent - knot nicely aligned, good length, etc.
I’ve forgotten how to tie a tie in the last 20 years since I haven’t worn a single one. I always had to use a mirror to see that the knot didn’t look bad, i didn’t need it to tie it.
I tie all of my own ties. I can even tie bowtie, so BOOYAAAA!
I tie my own ties. No mirror; it only confuses things.
I do not trust a man that does not tie his tie by himself without a mirror.
Though I rarely wear a tie:

Neener, neener.
Regular ties, tie myself, no mirror required. Bow ties, tie myself, sometimes need a mirror or else it comes out dodgy. Only wear either type rarely. Occasionally make fun of friends for wearing fake bow ties.
And I do not trust a man who can tie a bow tie.
Sneaky so and sos.
My husband ties his own, but I have tied them for kids at school. However, when I do it I have to put it around my neck and tie it as if I were going to wear it, then loosen it and put it around the student’s neck. I’m happy to do it and thankful to see one less clip-on tie!!
When I was very small, and wore a tie to church, my Mom would tie it for me. She had gone to a fancy girls’ private school where ties were mandatory, and even years afterward, she remembered how to tie a tie. One Sunday, Mom got tired of doing it for me, and taught me how. Ever since, I have tied my own tie. I can do it without a mirror, but often use one just to make sure that the knot is just so, and the dimple is where I want it.
Bow ties are cool.
I cross-dress (well except I need better shoes and slacks and…) and when I do I tie my own tie. It usually takes me a couple of tries to get it right. No mirror.
I find myself having to wear a tie about, oh, once every five years or so, if that. Always amazes me that I still remember how to tie it.
I wear a tie as close to never as possible, but c’mon, even I can tie a tie…
Joe
I no longer remember how to tie a tie. The last time I wore one, that I remember, was at my sister’s funeral in 1990. The time before was at college graduation in 1985. (See SDMB picture gallery for a pic of that graduation.) On the theory that human beings should be as flexible as possible, I should probably learn again. But I’ll probably take an accounting course or French course instead.
