When this was a free site, it wasn’t unreasonable for users to be expected to suck it up when Mods were asshats. That’s not the case, any more.
Given the level of dissatisfaction, and the fact that we, the paying customer base, should be allowed to democratically choose our governance, I’m calling for Moderators by election. A two year term should be good, with option for reelection. Let every Mod candidate submit a position statement, and from there, the paying members can decide who they wish to handle Mod affairs.
At present, the system is one that would make Robert Mugabe proud. I’m tired of seeing Mods speak to members with contempt, and otherwise treating people poorly. It will only be redressed if we rise up and demand change.
Good luck with that, seeing that this board is owned by a profit-making company. But I’m not seeing the problems that you are. If you want to vote, you can vote with your feet.
Just wonderin’. How did the last revolution attempt go, here on SDMB? Were there any heads left on stakes to ward off future miscreants? If not, or if this is the first one, I’m in!
I think we need to elect a representative body that then interviews and selects moderators, with the final slate being submitted back to users for a final vote, with posters having a vote-weighted determined by a formula based on post counts, seniority, and board esteem.

I mean, you can’t really be serious… elected moderators? Of a private board?
Just cause you pay doesn’t give you any rights… we are customers, not stockholders. Do you get to vote for management at your phone company or utilities?
Like others said, if you’re really that unhappy with the moderation here, then leave. Just cause there are a small handful of loud complainers doesn’t prove that the majority of subscribers feel that way. I, for one, think they do a fantastic job (note that I didn’t say perfect) - but I don’t go posting that in ATMB once a month cause I’ve got no reason to.
I don’t act like a fuckface on here so I’ve never really had any problems with the mods. And while sometimes they get a little lock-happy, I can’t remember any specific time when I was pissed off at any of them. So in short, I don’t give a shit.
