The time has come for elected moderators

There are a million ways to encourage people to ignore someone without announcing that somebody is on your ignore list. A search for “DNFTT” alone would probably kill the hamsters.
The posters who equate this place with a store need a clue. The board doesn’t dispense crackers, canned goods, or other commodities, such that the same item can be found elsewhere.
Maybe not a store, but they ARE a business. They offer a service, we purchase or rather we pay for that service. It’s not a public, tax-payer funded service. It’s privately owned.
What the hell, Eggs was at best a moron on par with Andrewt85
Huh, I thought it was ivan that reminded me more of Andrew, but I guess the two of them together could add up. (eggs with the questions, ivan with his stupid thin-skinned hissy-fits)
Now, if we’re talking about begone mods, can we bring back manhattan? Pretty please?
By and large we should ignore them more often rather than baiting them - I think a lot of us, and this includes me, give in to that stuff too quickly.
I vote for Marley23 based purely on the fact that he typed “by and large” correctly.

Bi and large? That fits so many here.

d&r

Out of curiosity, if I announce (say, in the Pit)

would that be objectionable? Would I be warned for that?

Now that I think about, Guin was excoriated for being down on eggs. Maybe it wouldn’t be very useful after all…

No, that’s not against the rules. The rule applies specifically to the ignore list. You’re free to avoid or ignore whoever you want.
Whatever its implications with scrambledeggs, this is a good point in terms of how ‘borderline’ trolling/jerkish posters are dealt with here. By and large we should ignore them more often rather than baiting them - I think a lot of us, and this includes me, give in to that stuff too quickly.

So often, it can be so much fun - for both us and them. Like yanking a toy mouse on a string away from a kitten, everyone seems to be having a good time, except for one person who things you are torturing the poor kitten and the other guy who thinks that the kitten is wrong to demand so much attention from the guy with the string.

I think we should have former Mod day (or week!). Bring back all the former mods, give them all the power for a while. **UncleBeer, manhattan, TVeblen, Chronos, DavidB, Alphagene, Arnold W, John Corrado, JillGat… **maybe have **Nickrz ** enforce the no-zombie-threads rule!

Being former staff myself, surely there’s something I could do. Even if it’s just sweeping up.

If manhattan was modding again for 24 hours, I think a few people would end up crying on their keyboards.

Thank you. This gem did not go unnoticed.

  1. Unban Collounsbury.

  2. Elect him mod of Great Debates

  3. Pull up lawnchair; get popcorn.
—3a. Do not post pulls up chair; gets popcorn

  4. Bask.

<<sigh>>

There were giants in those days…

'course, some of 'em were just giant pains in the patoot.

what, are you trying to turn this thread into another fat bashing one?

Just what we need. A popularity contest to select the mods.

And before either of them come in and ban me, I must say that I didn’t mean any disrespect to either DrMatrix or Eutychus. I was just going off of memory…

Shit on by bears, probably.
Or eaten by bears and then shit.

Or something.

I do not have a problem with the mods. They have been berry, berry good to me.
So far.

What, from the sheer power of awesome?
You’re saying you want a horse appointed to mod in IMHO?
Why not? In the past we had the back end, maybe the front end will get the nod this time!
