So now we won’t hear any more bitching about L.A.? What will take its place? Good luck, Johnny. Will your ID change here?
I thought this was going to be a Marvin K Mooney thread.
bAnyway…Best of luck Johnny.
Actually, I was thinking about The Chambers Brothers’ The Time Has Come Today and Midnight Oil’s Beds Are Burning.
Can you not make a simple ramp out of a couple of 2 x wides? Or maybe buy a set of those aluminum ramps for loading riding mowers onto pickup trucks (sold at most Wal-Marts). I’d think that would be cheaper than making an extra trip. Just a thought.

That’s an idea. Where would I get one of those aluminum ramps?
Around here they’re sold at most Wal-Marts, and probably the Home Depot type stores as well.

Well, I got the closet (8’10" x 6’1") emptied. The boxes are stacked in the living room, and the clothes are in boxes. Sport coat, and nicer shirts are in my B-4 bag. (I’ll lay my suit and other shirts in the back of the Jeep.) I guess the next step is to do the laundry and pack it and the contents of my dresser into a parachute bag. I’ll leave some clothes out, which I will later carry in my flight bag. Then I guess I should see about consolidating some of the smaller, lighter boxes into a wardrobe box I have.
I haven’t measured the bikes yet. I’ll need to take apart the bed and move it and the dresser into the living room and pack up the kitchen and the bathroom to see how much space it will take, and check out the trailers on the U-Haul site. I don’t know of any Wal-Marts around here (believe it or not!), but there’s a Home Depot a few miles away. I’ll check on a ramp.
There are things I’d rather not take, but I don’t really want to leave them. For example, I have a '77 Porsche 924 transmission and a G.I. Joe aircraft carrier. The former is heavy, and the latter is large. I guess I’ll just have to haul them up and sell them on eBay.
I dread the cleaning. The bathroom is always tiring, and the oven will be messy.
Oops. Looks like the largest trailer available for me is the 5’x10’. That’s not big enough for the bikes and the stuff. I’ll have to get the 5’x8’ again (because of the bed) and then make another trip for the bikes. U-Haul does have motorcycle trailers, but they must be returned to the location from which they were rented. They do have a 5’x9’ open trailer though, and that is more than sufficient.
I don’t mind having to rent another trailer, but I don’t relish the extra 2,400 mile round trip.
