The Tin Man: the coolest, weirdest, thing I've ever heard on the radio.

Well, actually, I heard it on the PRX podcast, which, I hope, means it’s possible that it’s coming to a public radio station near you.

But do not wait for it.

Go to Pferdzwackur - The Tin Man and listen to the Part 1. It’s only five minutes long.

It’s a surreal, experimental retelling of The Wizard of Oz from the Tin Man’s point of view, but that gives you only the merest shadow of an impression of what it’s like.

Go take five minutes and listen to it.

I haven’t listened to it all the way through. I have listened to Part 1 and Part 2 three times each. I have played iPart 1 for my husband, who agreed with me that it’s fantastic. I have burned the whole thing to CDs so we can listen to it together.

Go. Listen. 5 minutes. Tell me it’s incredible. Then subscribe to the feed. Or download the whole thing. However you prefer to consume your internet audio. (If you’re a podcasty person, subscribe the PRX feed, too, 'cause there’s a lot of great quirky stuff on it.)

59 reads and no posts. I’ll take a shot at it.

Uhhhh…Podkayne, I know this is delicate ground on which I am treading but were you in the most proper state of mind when you listened to the track?

Weird? yes. Cool? not sure I can say. Entertaining? not quite. Simply enough, definitely not my cuppa.

Whom do I contact to get those five minutes of my life back? (Actually only about three; that was more than enough to do the trick.)

No offense!

Brandishes axe

Well, my husband liked it at least. Which proves that I’m not crazy. Or maybe it just proves that we both are.

Thanks for at least giving it a try, minlokat.

This post brought to you by the people who bring you other things. Like food. And financial instruments.

Ahh, I have found you. I saw a bunch of links coming in from straightdope…

Minlokwat, I happen to have some spare minutes. If you would just list your financial details, I can get your time back to you post-haste. In fact, if you act now, you will receive 5 extra bonus minutes of life!!!

Podkayne, thanks for the plug! I like to get feedback. Including the less-than-thrilled kind, so I am happy to hear from Minlokwat too.

Oh, dear, Pokayne, I love you! I don’t know if I’m getting quite what was intended from this, or perhaps I am… but I haven’t laughed this hard at something since I was a teenager first getting into surreal and lateral-thinking humour. It gave me wonderful memories, wishing so much I could be sharing it with my old best friend, both of us still in our old mindsets, when everything was new and hilarious. Sigh.

I’m going to listen to the whole thing! It’s my favourite now! And the voice is so soothing… it’s nice to listen to while I’m playing EQII. Much better than the noises of my enemies dying.

Podkayne, of course. :smack:
