The too tough to die MMP

Still being lazy about walking, but I did get out today. 2.06 miles in 41:31, or an average of 2.98 mph. Still slower than last year, but closing in.

At the end of the first lap, I saw a neighbourhood cat crossing the road. It caught a bird and was taking it somewhere. At the end of the walk I took the bins out to the street. There was another neighbourhood cat at the other end of the yard. Looks like she(?) has some Siamese in her. Blue collar with a blue bauble on it. I coaxed her to me and gave me pets. She gave me her belly. She did stick me once with a claw.

We’re having Herbsaint (recipe) shaved beef salad for dinner tonight.

Happy Sunday!

No park again today. It was 18 feels like 8 and I didn’t want to deal with the cold. We got more snow overnight, not much, but I didn’t want to deal with that either.
I saw a bird huddled up by the transom window last night. Poor thing was probably freezing, but there would be shelter from the wind and probably heat from the house. I just hope birds don’t build a nest up there again. No fun having twigs and shit fall on your head when you open the door and have birds dive bombing you when you step out.

I stupidly got the time wrong and was thinking it would be lighter earlier rather than later and set my alarm for 5:15. I’m tired.

The IRS sucks Nellie. I hate them. Good luck dealing with them and remember, you are accountable for your mistakes and their mistakes, they are not. Just like politicians, and weathermen, they can screw up everything and still have a secure job.

Lots of cute pics, of pets and babies.
I’m so far behind I will never catch up

We got a dump of bout 6 inches of snow yesterday, so I justified not going to the shop, but today was a lovely 25 degrees and sunny, so I went over and spent a couple hours shoving plywood through the table saw. Then I pre-assembled all the parts for the stupid giant boxes the client wants. 8 foot x 8 foot x 18 inches things to stand up outside? Yeah, I’ve suggested putting “skis” on them, but still, any kind of wind and they’re going over.

Whatever. Not my circus, not my monkeys. At least I’m getting paid. But so much work that I won’t be having a day off for a month.

Well, the deli lady shaved the beef a little too thin. She didn’t know what I meant by ‘second to the thinnest setting’. When she asked ‘Shaved?’ I said yes because we’re having shaved beef salad. But it really needed to be on the next thicker setting.

It was still good, though. :slight_smile:

Yes he did, but hubs is a pushover when it comes to cats so it wasn’t that hard or impressive.

But, yeah, not so little. He’s 16 lbs now and he is eating more than both of our others combined.

At least you’ve warned them, or is it going to be your fault when they blow over?

I’ve been really distracted lately and it shows with this piece.

The first and most obvious one is that I started it in totally the wrong place so if I were to take it to my framer, he would be very sad. This is such a cute pattern and the designer was so clear, it’s a shame to mess it up like this, so I’m going to do it over. That will be easier and faster than fixing this one.

It’s all Putin’s fault. With some blame going to hubs’ broken comp, but it’s mostly Putin’s fault.

Cleaned, laundered, npped. I enjoyed the late sunset.( sleep in the afternoon, so late sun means I an enjoy it in summer. But I’d suck it up if we stayed on Standard Time year round)
The masked mandates have mostly ended here, but I still wear it, because there’s too many reality denyers around. :roll_eyes:

It’s worth it just for the Christmas episode alone.

The amazing thing is UnknownHub is still whining after she went full Eowyn at Pelennor Fields on that dude.

Drivers get full uniforms, Management gets BrownTM themed polos, office workers and us grunts dress however we like(I buy stuff that is cheap and dirt colored).

I agree.
The Ukrainian Biathalon team took gold at the Paralympics, so if I was Vlad, I’d avoid tea, high windows, and clear shots from a westerly direction.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dicey!!! :cake: :champagne: :partying_face:

Evening all. Managed to do a lot of nothing after the Red Robin visit, just had some nuked White Castles to hold me over until tomorrow. HVAC guys are due Tuesday, so need to be ready for them. Highs are due to be in the 60’s and 70’s this week, so no snow in the forecast (maybe rain Tuesday/Wednesday and Friday).

Having a problem with my clock here in the office room. It’s “radio controlled” and reset itself just fine yesterday, but that effort apparently wore out the battery and it died this afternoon. Took the clock down and put in a new battery, but now it won’t reset to the proper time. Instructions did say it takes awhile, so I’ll leave it be tonight and see what tomorrow brings.

doggio, my own favorite “Batman: TAS” was “Almost Got Him”. And after watching about 35 minutes of the “Batman and Robin” movie once, I thought the script writers could have been replaced by the guys doing the Animation, since they were obviously better qualified.

Dicey, a most happy (and probably now belated) Birthday.

VanGo, doesn’t matter what you say, the customer is always right; and when they mess up, it’s obviously your fault…such is the life of contractors.

shoe, do try not to squeal in delight while working… And you are right, the almost-sneeze just keeps building and building–and then nothing. Most irritating.

nellie, keep us informed on the Great IRS Debacle.

Oopsie, hope Plan tattoo removal goes well.

OK all, have a good night/morning and I’ll catch you all on the next MMP.

Happy Birthday Dicey!!

Happy Birthday Dicey

It was a lovely day here. I made some pan fried chicken tenders and home fries with onion and zucchini for dinner and then spent the evening with needles, thread, red wine and Spielberg’s West Side Story on HBO. I am a big fan of the original movie, but Spielberg knocked this out of the park. It was marvelous.

Happy belated Birthday Dicey!

What’s ya doing? Got pics? I love seeing and hearing about other folks’ projects. I was going to start a Christmas ornament but my eyes got mad at the red on red stitching, so I’m going to wait until I can stitch outside for that one.

@JaneDoe42

I have been working on a Double Irish Chain quilt for years. The technique is called English Paper Piecing. I baste fabric to two inch squares of card stock and then sew them together by hand. I admit that sometimes months will go by when I have not done any work, but I am coming down to the end game. This is the main portion, finished two weeks ago:

The cat is sure that I am making this for him and has been involved at every step. I mostly have to work behind closed doors because he will crawl up onto the quilt as I work.

To finish, I am now about a third of the way through a three square border in light gray. The finished top will be 1,369 squares total. I have about 250 squares to go, and then I will turn it over to Sunflower, who can do the long arm quilting.

Ralphie doing quality control as I work:

He is also involved in helping Sunflower at her sewing machine:

You sewed a cat!

That is lovely, and of course you are doing it for the cat!!! Thank you so much for the pics.

Both the cat and the quilt are gorgeous!

I enjoyed looking up paper piecing quilting-thank you for leading me to it.

@JaneDoe42
Thanks

@BippityBoppityBoo
Ralphie says thanks for the compliment.

Paper piecing is a really relaxing

The quilt is gorgeous! The cat climbing into the sewing machine might have me looking for my squirt bottle… I love the expression on his face though. Full on crazy cat.

@Sunny_Daze

Thanks. Ralphie is very adventurous
