The tornado sirens are going off in Memphis right now

I used to pine in a Ford, but I bought a Pontiac.

My Dad was a meteorologist in Korea during the war. I took a class in college. I never heard of derechos until about a month ago.

You know what’s interesting about that, my brother moved from Cordova to Eagan last year. He liked MN though.

woo-hoo!!! I had no idea you were in my lovely hometown!! My mama is still without power in E. Mempho–I used to love that place, but how I hate it now!! Used to be such a wonderful city, makes me wanna cry now. Are you writing about the downfall of Memphis ? It’s so not good for anybody today. :frowning:

Well, I did at first. But after four years of hearing people say that a dash of black pepper makes their food too spicy to eat …oy.

Apparently you’re not in a mobile home, off Airways and Getwell & Shelby, & that area.

I was there in a so-called manufactured home, a long time ago, and a tornado (less than a mile away) took the whole roof off a grocery store. a LARGE grocery store.

Haha! My son and I were up there last week to help brother pack a Uhaul (they’ve moved to Richmond VA). I seriously had a hard time catching what some people said, since they talk so fast, and emphasize different syllables of some words. My son said it was like nothing but vowels: “Oh ee oh ee oh ee oh ee”.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Well, at least we now know why Elvis was walking six feet up…he had aerodynamic help.

Aren’t business required to have evacuation plans? I know the coffeeshop I worked at in college had one…

No. It is physically impossible to pine for a fnord–indeed, that is the exact antithesis of the designed reaction.

Evacuate to where? Outside, a 50 mph doorknob will kill you.

Evacuate to a place that is either underground or inside the building away from big glass windows, obviously. :stuck_out_tongue:

OK, just wanted to clear that up from Tornado Alley here.
