I know I am. I still can’t decide whether or not to feel bad for these women, but I’m leaning towards ‘not.’
If nothing else, I’m very curious as to how this show will work. I assume that until the end, it’ll be pretty similar to the Bachelor (which I only watched a few minutes of). Women getting their hearts broken by the dashing Joe as he votes 'em off.
It always amazes me on these shows that all of the women involved fall head-over-heels for the guy, and proceed to fight for to the death for him. If this dude were picking up women in a bar, he’d be just another loser pawing his way around the room. But on the show, they all just have to have him! Maybe I missed it in the Bachelor, but did even one of the women say they weren’t impressed?
I want ot watch it, well not exactly. I want to watch the last episode when it is revealed that the guy is not a millionaire just to see the look on the woman’s face and to see her reaction. Other than that I don’t think I will watch it.
I’m going to be watching it, and all it’s depraved glory. So I’m a whore for the networks, one commercial is all it took to make me want to watch it-I don’t mind
Yeah I’ll probably watch and in the back of my mind I’ll be thinking if they only knew…This guy is going to be dumped so fast when this beautiful woman finds out he really isn’t a millionaire.,BUT there will be alot of egg on beautiful faces when they see how money caused them to act…How foolish will they look to swoon over some Joe Blow off the streets…Makes for an interesting series.
This type of show feeds on the darkest side of humanity. There’s enough of that in real life without tuning into a staged version of it. I’m looking to learn more about the better side of mankind in 2003.
Sad to say but I plan on watching as well. I am under the impression that each woman (girl?, slut? idiot?) will be told Joe’s real situation upon being voted out. So you get to see a suitable reaction each week.
I have also heard that the 2nd place finisher from the Bachelor last season has her own show this season, the Bachelorette. I guess she’s gotten over the trauma of losing the man of her dreams.
I’ll watch it just for the traffic accident rubbernecking-like aspects of the whole affair.
I like to believe though that they’ll lead the women on, he’ll pick his cough bride for life, and they will reveal that he makes a pittance - she will scoff, back out of the whole thing, and then they’ll tell her they were joking and that he REALLY is a millionaire. That would be even crueler and more fun to watch.
On the other hand, if I had only made $19,000 a year, I wouldn’t have expected my wife to have the least bit of interest in me, so I won’t really fault the women if they aren’t impressed.
Although for going on such a lame show, they kind of have it coming.
I doubt I’ll watch it, but I think It’d make for better t.v. if the guy was more avereage looking, or even on the ugly side. It would be funny to watch the women try to weasel their way out of the relationship.
What I find most interesting is the assumption that the women will try to weasel out of the relationship because the guy is poor, and not, oh, say, because the entire relationship has been nothing but one great, big, huge lie.
I’m pretty sure that under the circumstances I’d be far more upset because Joe had spent the last couple of months engaged in a massive fraud, than I would because he wasn’t rich. Of course, I also wouldn’t sign up to go on ‘marry a millionaire’ TV show, so maybe that’s a character difference between myself and the participants.
I’ve never seen a single “reality tv” show before, prefering the Discovery or History channels but this one looks kinda humorous. However, is it more than one episode? I could maybe endure one show of falling faces but if they’re gonna drag the dang thing out into a series then forget it.
Yeah, I can see if it was like that “who wants to marry a millionaire” special they did. I don’t understand how they’re going to keep people interested week after week. I also heard a rumor that it’s being hosted by Alex McLeod (former Trading Spaces host) and I hate her! Her voice drives me nuts.
I also don’t understand why everyone assumes the gal will try to weasel out of the relationship when she finds out he’s not rich. He’s great-looking and maybe even a nice guy. If he turns out to not be stupid or a jerk, that’s more than enough for me! (Surely they’d know he’d a) get a buttload of money from FOX for participating and b) this would probably lead to better work for him in modeling/tv/movies?)
i also prefer history and discovery to that big steaming pile of cat shit…that’s right, i said it. I wouldn’t watch that if it was the only program on the telly…screw it and to hades with “reality tv”.
it has nothing to do with degradation either, i hope he has sex with them all, maybe i’d watch it then…but seriously folks, don’t we all have better things to do other than sit and watch something so silly? I know, i know, different things entertain different people, but it’s gone way to far…i did watch the first and third series of survivor but I have given up on that…
anyway, no i will not be wasting my time with that, i’ll be at work…and if i was at home i’d most likely play with the kids and sit down to a nice video game…take these so-called reality series and shove them up the collective ass of coporate america…
I’m gonna watch if I remember about it. There is one woman on there who is HOT. That and it looks pretty funny. And I hate the reality stuff, it must be for that dark haired woman I’m watching.
If I was at home, I would - but I’m not, and I like a show playing opposite, so I’m taping that one.
But, should I find myself at home in the next several mondays, I would not be the least surprised to find myself watching (thoroughly ashamed of course, every second, but still watching)
Not if you paid me – I’ll be watching Global Extremes on OLN instead. My cousin is one of the 50 contestants. Apparently, he made it into the final 12 – he went to Africa last week for the 2nd round.
