Prudent to remember, imo, that a major part of Trump’s campaign was deporting illegal migrants, and 43% of legal Hispanic citizens voted for him.
I’ve been a residential contractor since the early 1980s so I deal more with Hispanic folks than most of you do. Except for the obvious when we’re talking about 43% of voters, you may be surprised at the number of legal Hispanics that agree with this, especially the sub-contractors. My Hispanic concrete sub contractor, a legal citizen and very smart fellow, gets very heated about it.

Where are they going to deport the Navajos TO? Their ancestral homeland is HERE. Not in Mexico or Guatemala.
To any country that will agree to take them. The irony of deporting Native Americans for not belonging here is unbelievable.I can’t wait for the Supreme Court to come up with a way to justify it.
That is untrue and will never happen. Trump may be an asshole but he’s not Andrew Jackson asshole. Well, granted, Andrew Jackson didn’t deport the Native Amerians to another country. He just killed a lot of them and subjected some of them to The Trail of Tears, where many died anyway.
Trying to deport Native Americans would cause an uprising among American citizens unlike any seen in this nation.
If I had a dollar for every time someone underestimates just how much of an asshole Donald Trump can become, I’d be able to buy a better president.

I understand your shock at the idea of deporting Navajo people but there is no logic or any sense of Justice motivating people like DJT, Homan or Miller beyond the idea “brown people” = “illegal”.
Hell, I’m waiting for them to order ICE to deport Puerto Ricans.

The goal isn’t to deport Native Americans today. They know it won’t fly. What they’re doing is putting the ball on the 1 yard line. Only hard core racists have ever thought about deporting Navajo. They’ll love this news. Some Americans will recoil. Most won’t ever hear about this.
But some will file this away. And in 2 years, when Trump brings it up again, their brains will flicker. “Oh yeah, the Navajo problem. I remember hearing about that.”
And Republicans will be able to move the ball to the 2 yard line.
I don’t think they’ll ever score a goal on this one. But it doesn’t matter. They have thousands of balls that they’re moving down the field one yard at a line.
This isn’t a slippery slope. Few of these drives will result in breakaway touchdowns. But they’re persistent, and they’re thorough, and they’re overwhelming our defenses. And they’re winning.
Trump has put something as ridiculous as “buying Greenland” on the 10 yard line already, after floating the idea during his first term. They used that experience to build up a plan. It was on the 1 yard line then, and now he’s having talks with the Danish PM where everyone has to pretend like this is a real issue that requires real adults to take seriously.
The more of these dramatic plays the sane world citizens have to defend against, the less we can do about the less dramatic plays that slip through our defense.
From the mainland. I doubt most MAGAts understand their Puerto Rican neighbors are just as much citizens as they are. They are brown and speak Spanish so that automatically equals “illegal” in their tiny brains.
