The Trump Impeachment Inquiry

I think it’s safe to assume so, yes. But I would prefer that they didn’t. Cover all the bases and such.

We’re talking about the Republicans in the House of Representatives? Both.

But a “legitimate” investigation built on false conspiracy-theory pretenses allows the president to shift the blame on the DoJ or CIA or whoever, and is consistent with the evidence I have seen so far and even the broad defense presented by the administration (not Republicans in Congress).

True. But, just saw Starr on Fox stating that Sondland is very problematic, and that he envisions possible scenarios of Republicans initiating resignation discussions.

Also, I really, really hope this isn’t fake (an image of Trump’s talking points).

So why do you suppose they haven’t asked?

Nobody suggested it?
They are dumb?
They already know the answer and it is not helpful to them?
Collective delusion?
They have been drugged?

What does logic tell you the answer is?

Be fair. Those are complicated points, and he wants to stay on message.

Again, and I will stop beating this drum, but an answer would be helpful. Why have they not tried to establish this? Why not? I think you know the answer, it’s ok to admit it. It really is.

Jesus. Pretty pathetic.

"“I want nothing. I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. Tell Zellinsky to do the right thing. This is the final word from the Pres. of the U.S.”

Written in giant sharpie, filling the page.

I agree with you - I hope it is not a fake.

I wonder when Trump heads back to Walter Reed for another “check up”?

While it’s probably not critical to the investigation, I kind of wish some of these Ukraine experts were asked a little bit more about the types or examples of corruption, that in their opinions, really do need to be investigated in Ukraine. It would be nice to have it confirmed that the Biden and Crowdstrike crap was completely off the radar and low-priority.

Yeah, he shouldn’t get a pass on that basis. He picked them. He sought out the position of POTUS. You don’t get - or at least shouldn’t get - to take an extremely powerful job like that and insist that you are the boss in all things but then disavow the corrupt and illegal actions that your own advisors committed in your name.

Especially since this happened right after he got let off the hook in the Mueller investigation. Come on! He took that as carte blanche to do whatever he wanted.

Is there some reason you don’t find what Procrustus shared of Sondland’s sworn testimony highlighted above dispositive on this point?

So there is an adversarial system of contesting issues, (I think it’s called democracy) and it’s happening in real time right now, but you won’t recognize it?

Placing the onus on what republicans do is just setting out an impossible ask. They aren’t even behaving rationally this year.

“He had to announce the investigations. He didn’t actually have to do them, as I understood it.” - Sondland.

It was never about investigating. It was about smearing Biden. That is all.

Tomorrow, I suspect we’re going to hear how important the military aid was to Ukraine, and who exactly had the only authority to suspend it. (Hint; it was Trump)

Also, you would think he could spell “Zelensky” by now.

Its not. Other reporters - including Hallie Jackson - posted similar (if much less clear) photos from their phones.

Well, I love Aspenglow for his naturally wavy hair.

I’m not even 100% sure how to spell Zelensky. I’ve seen it spelled with two “y”,s for example.

But, yeah, he’s an idiot. No question.

Well, looks like Team Trump is pivoting back to “There was no quid pro quo”, also known as “Everyone else is lying under oath, but you should trust me and my people who I refuse to let testify under oath.”

Her. And of course you do.

We’re four hours in today, and we’re haven’t even gotten to member questions. I have things to do today, but I can’t stop watching. The morning sessions are usually done by now. I wouldn’t even mind if they weren’t asking the same four questions over and over and over (exaggerating, but not by much).

If I started a drinking game to take a shot every time Nunes brought up the whistleblower, my liver would have moved to Paraguay by now in protest. Heck, I’M ready to move to Paraguay in protest.

Check closely. Note that underneath are printed out… tweets.
