I don’t think it would necessarily end badly for them at all. Yes, no chance at all the Senate convicts. But it shows that House Democrats are doing something. And with an election nearing, doing something will usually be seen better than not doing something.
Interesting fact: (I’ll share it because it’s clear that you don’t know this, why else would you post what you did?) Collusion is no crime.
Ignorance fought! Hooray!
Many Democrats, not *the *Democrats. Why? Because of their constitutional duty to the country. Impeachment is to protect the nation from the continued presence in office of someone who has or is committing high crimes and misdemeanors, prior to the next election. The need to do so is further amplified by the DOJ’s policy (not law) against pursuing criminal prosecution against sitting presidents.
Maybe the OP should ask why the Republicans, both individually and collectively,* aren’t*.
It’s not enough to simply vote him out of office. I want to see him tarred & feathered and driven out in handcuffs, sent directly to jail, do not collect $200, and his only legacy being a biography titled, “Chapter 7”, while his progeny is forced to eek out a living starring in Celebrity Rehab, seasons 7, 8, 9…etc.
There are two aspects, really. One, does he deserve to be impeached? Almost everyone I know who isn’t a republican thinks he surely does. Most think he should be in jail. The other aspect is, is it politically wise to impeach him? That is a quite different answer.
The Atlantic had an article a few months back, arguing the various merits of impeachment proceedings (not necessarily impeachment.) Ranging from allowing various investigative tools, possibly focusing the public’s mind on misdoings, distracting the administration by forcing them to defend themselves…
I was not entirely convinced, but I suggest it as a discussion of the various merits/hazards of pursuing impeachment proceedings.
We’re hellbent on having slow, draggy-assed hearings over the 2020 primary election which keeps Trump’s (and the GOP’s) corruption in the public eye daily.
But thanks for your concern! We got it from here now, kthxbye.
I’m convinced that this is the approach that Pelosi and Nadler are advocating. Though Nadler is being more vocal about it ultimately leading to impeachment. I also think (when my frustration at the slow roll doesn’t get the best of me) that they are aiming to have the height of the investigations (congressional and 14 others) and court enforced subpoenaed testimonies to hit in early 2020, lasting all the way through until election.
They are hellbent because they are suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. They cannot accept the fact that they were beaten by a mere amateur and it makes them too crazy to think clearly. At least the Democrats have the option of opposing him. The Republicans (who were just as badly beaten) are equally deranged, but they find it necessary to pretend to like him. Imagine the cognitive dissonance they are suffering from!
Well today Trump is shining a light on the fact that Obama criminally, um, wrote a book. So I guess both sides do it. No, that can’t be- Trump never wrote any book.
