Why are the Democrats so hell bent to Impeach Trump?

Obama did a lot of things that could have conceivably gotten him impeached, the problem being that the things he did were things both Republicans and Democrats could agree on.

Personally, I want to see him impeached – even though the chances he’ll be convicted and removed are almost nil, and even though it could backfire politically, although I don’t think it necessarily will – because there are things public officials cannot be allowed to do with impunity in a country that has the rule of law. Firing people in an attempt to make an investigation go away is one of them (and I think it is pretty well documented that Trump did this to Comey and Sessions, even if he didn’t succeed in doing it to Mueller), as is paying hush money to kill a damaging story right before an election, defying or threatening to defy the courts, and threatening potential witnesses before they testify against you.

I don’t agree with Pence’s politics, but Pence hasn’t done these things, at least not in public, so hell yes, I’d rather have him as president than Trump. This behavior is not normal, and it is not acceptable in ways that go well beyond any specific policy disagreements I may have with this administration.

He never wrote one either.

Now, I have some doubts as to whether Obama actually penned every word on every page of his book, there are often people involved in the process of at least editing, if not other forms of writing assistance. (He may have, I don’t know, but that is not normally how a book is written.)

OTOH, Trump didn’t pen a single word of his book, leaving the entirety up to ghost writers and editors.

I’m for whatever maximizes his chances of not being in office on Jan 21, 2021. We know that Moscow Mitch and the Senate Republicans would not convict him no matter what the evidence, that’s a given. If impeachment hearings can educate enough people in the middle that we have a serial felon in the White House and make him lose in 2020, then it’s worth the effort in my book even if the Senate is in the control of the fascist party.

I only want to see him impeached if there is a reasonable chance that there will be a decent showing in the senate. Even if not convicted, if he gets 60 ish votes towards a conviction, then that would be a win for the democrats. Less than that starts being less of a win, and if he gets less than a majority vote towards confirming the impeachment, then that is a clear win for the republicans.

As far as Pence, he’s an ass, but I’ll take him over Trump, as Trump’s base will not be as inspired by him, and he will have much less of a cult of personality around him than the current oval office occupant.

We’ll see, I have the feeling that even if they find half the videos in Epstein’s vault are featuring Trump doing unmentionables with underage kids, he will still get plenty of support amongst the republicans.

No doubt. You’re talking about a crowd that, if Donald took a dump on the Senate floor, would eat it up with a spoon and then fight about who got to lick the spoon. If there was tape of him fucking a minor, they’d say the kid should be honored to have serviced him.

They don’t think they are risking the election. The Mueller report fell flat, the Dems recognized that it fell flat, they tried hearings to get Mueller to say what the report didn’t, he didn’t, now they want impeachment hearings to motivate the base and blow enough smoke to make it look like they are onto something.

Besides, it was her turn!

Shodan

More Americans support impeaching Trump now than supported impeaching Nixon before impeachment proceedings began.

I doubt if Nadler expects, or even wants, a successful impeachment. He is simply using taxpayer money to finance partisan oppo research for the 2020 campaign.

Yeah, this is the main reason. Dems remain totally disconnected from the folks in flyover country.

Because Chump fucking deserves it is why.

What crimes has he been convicted of?

  1. Anyone who isn’t outraged by Trump is either stupid or complicit with him.
  2. Beaten by an amateur? No. Rigged by Russia.

More of the country needs to see more of Trump’s misdeeds revealed and the way he defies the law to keep them from being revealed. Maybe we can keep this awful shit from happening again.

They also don’t understand that many people are beginning to believe the Trump Campaign was victimized by the partisan investigation that started during the election. The AG is currently investigating the origin of the FISA warrant and the motives of the people involved.

Continuing an ever expanding partisan investigation into Trump’s affairs will generate more sympathy from sections of the country. Fairness means a lot in fly over country. Trump already does a lot of stupid things that will cost him votes in the next election. Let’s not give him back votes with a partisan Dem investigation that goes nowhere

“Mad Dickery” and “Assholishness” in the court of The Hall of Gatopescado’s Bar, Grill, Micro-brew and Foreign Car service.

Look it up, Bitch!

None, because federal regulations prevent indicting a sitting president.

Once he’s been impeached and removed, we can proceed to put him on trial.

off topic…but constant whining about the election being rigged is just another sign that the Democrats remain totally disconnected from flyover country.
Russia created chat-bots and Facebook pages , which just copied and repeated the many right-wing chats and facebook pages that already existed.
People who are stupid enough to believe that stuff are also stupid enough to believe all the junk they hear online from non-Russian sources. ( And, yes, on Fox news.)

In America, we let everybody use the internet, watch television , and --gasp!—vote.
Even those folks in flyover country.

Where in the Constitution does it say he has to be convicted of a crime?

Because anyone who promised to “lock up” their opponent as part of their campaign rhetoric is a clear and present danger to American soceity.
