The Trump Impeachment Inquiry

I’d love to hear all these other examples of conditioning foreign assistance on cooperation with political campaign activities. Whoever ordered those quid pro quos should also be thrown out of office.

According to Seth Abramson:

Pompeo plans to resign?! That is big.

Tried to find more information on Pompeo. Looks like Pompeo himself has not said he is resigning out loud in public. People are saying that he plans to resign. Doesn’t mean it’s not true, depending on the reputations of the people saying it. But at this point it’s more of a rumor than a fact. Damn. I was excited for a minute. If we’re get an honest person in the DOJ they might actually investigate corruption.

My read on the Pompeo resignation rumors is that Trump and Pomp are having it out behind closed doors. Trump’s probably mad at Pompeo because of something Pompeo warned him not to do, but did anyway.

I think it’s time now for a pitching change. Time for Schiff to go to the bullpen and bring in the closer: John Bolton.

Rudy posts a tweet and quickly deletes it. But not before everyone gets the screen cap.

Yeah, that makes about as much sense as anything Rudy says.

Or not. From the Independent: Mike Pompeo planning to resign because Trump ‘hurting his reputation’, report claims | The Independent | The Independent

And considering the testimony, has anyone heard from Rudy Giuliani today? ETA: see the above tweet; wonder if he’ll be on the Sunday interview shows this weekend…

Sondland’s actual words today:

Fox News headline right now:

OK then. That’s what they’re going with. “Are you going to believe us or your lying ears?”

I love that they are asking whether the guy who contributed 1 M to Trump’s inauguration knows what a quid pro quo is.

Who’s that schizo street person that keeps getting to the mic and ranting about something or other? Why can’t security ever stop him?

Oh wait–that’s Gym Jordan.

Alright, I’ve been resisting the urge to post this for quite some time now, but … am I the only one who thinks Sondland bears more than a passing resemblance to the Great Vizzini?

Why that’s… that’s…

INCONCEIVABLE!!

Anyone know off-hand if there’s been any history of Trump’s appointees getting sideways with him and it leaking they plan to resign, only to deny that leak, all just to actually resign imminently?

A concise analogy of the arguments by Nunes, Jordan, et al:

Remember the Republican convention, when the nomination speech for Trump was given by Jar-Jar Binks?

“Vote your conscience”.

Yes, yes I do. Stirring speech!

It sorta reminded me of the “Yeah, the family had a lotta buffers” scene in the Godfather II.

I suspect that you will find that the DOJ has been asked to testify and has refused.

Adam Schiff is neither magical nor is he a genius hacker who can break into DOJ systems to see what all things they are or are not working on.

On the other hand, we can reasonably assume that the Republican attorney can and will be supplied with any and all material which would be useful to him in putting forward a defense and he has almost certainly sent requests for the types of exonerating materials that should exist if the President was acting in an above-board manner.

If it existed, he would ask the individuals who could present that information - e.g. members of the DOJ - to answer their subpoenas and come forward to testify.

If it didn’t exist… Then we would see what we are seeing.

This is how Obstruction of Justice works. It prevents the investigators from being able to make a case - positive or negative. It’s unreasonable to put the blame on them for incompleteness, when they’re being denied the ability to do their job.

I wouldn’t say that “tldr” is a rebuttal of an argument that should be endorsed.

One does feel like this would be a good moment for the FBI to start talking to Sondland about a non-prosecution deal for cooperation on the Inauguration investigation.

He seems to have recently seen the light that going to jail ain’t no fun.
