The Tudors 5/18...Possible Spoilers

I have nothing of any real importance to say here. Though, when the Pope and the guy from France were chatting I noticed the red garb the, uh, bishops? and the Pope were wearing kinda seemed to bounce on the screen.

My guess is it has to do with such a bright red causing problems?

Anyone else notice this? I’m watching on a 50 inch DLP TV at 720p, if that matters.

And I guess to add something of any substance about the show…I think they are losing me. Not that I think it’s bad, and I really enjoyed the first season, but it just seems to be dragging on and boring me. I hope that changes though, because I love the concept of the show and the cast is awesome at making me like their characters. Even when I shouldn’t.

Oh, and one more point…I’m know nothing about UK history. Does Anne get killed anytime soon (assuming the show sticks to any kind of realistic timeline)? I’d look it up, but I really don’t want details on her death, assuming it comes, just a yes or no would be great.

Thanks,

Jeff

ETA: I’m curious about Anne dying because she is the one character I just don’t like at all.

Anne who? Anne Boleyn? Anne of Cleves? Where are they up to?

My bad. Anne Boleyn.

And I do realize how silly it might seem to avoid the actual history of events to prevent having the Hollywood version ruined for me.

Also, The King is SUCH a fuck and should be loathed. But I can’t help cheer him on. I knew he was going to lash out at Anne Boleyn for the miscarriage, yet I had his back.

Anne’s fate is:to be convicted of treason, adultery and incest and to be executed.

And pretty soon, too. There are two episodes left in the season and, unless they make major, major changes to the true history, Anne will be executed before the season ends. my guess is, she’ll be dying in the last episode.

Anne Boleyn and Katherine of Aragon died in the same year, 1536. Queen Katie is dead (they implied poison, but I’m thinking cancer?) so Annie can’t be far behind.

I’m a bit confused…Anne had one healthy child, Elizabeth. Why is she having such a hard time with subsequent pregnancies?

And I know it’s not too terribly accurate…but everyone is so pretty, and wears such pretty clothes. I’m enjoying the heck out of it.

It happened historically…she conceived twice after Elizabeth, but miscarried each time. Even Elizabeth’s birth was difficult.

It has been speculated that she was RH-, which would account for one healthy baby and subsequent miscarriages.

The real Katherine died of cancer, but poison was suspected due to the severely deteriorated nature of her heart. (Modern pathology didn’t really exist in the 16th century.)

As for Anne, the latest episode available on On-Demand shows

The various members of the Boleyn family convicted of high treason and executed, along with Mark Smeaton and others. The real Smeaton was tortured and executed (one of the only commoners to be caught up in the events) but there’s no historical evidence that he was carrying on a hot gay affair with George Boleyn as he does in the show. The show uses this as a clever motivation for George’s spurned wife to make up claims of George engaging in incest with Anne.

This show is trashier than your average daytime soap, but it’s in English accents so that makes it OK. Plus boobies.
