He didn’t change the goal, he just changed the route. This is all sour grapes from the McCain camp. They tried to do the same thing but were prevented by the FEC. Let that be a lesson to McCain about trying to swindle the bank.
Jackmannii, a slight hijack. Thanks for the link to Whale.to. Where in the hell do you find these places? I’m cracking up over here.
(sadly, educateyourself.org looks to be dead or squatted. Was that one just as weird?)
But not a position he held back during the primaries. Unless you mean when Obama told Larry King it was a good system, he meant it wasn’t a good system.
So he was anti-special interests then, but eager to participate in a system that encouraged them. He just never mentioned that the system was as flawed as all that. And Hilary was a bad candidate for not participating in a system in which he is not participating, and McCain is the prisoner of special interests because he tried to opt out of a system that encourages special interests, and Obama is not, even though he did.
Glad that’s cleared up.

David Brooks is just a dingdong. Oh, that bad Obama, he talks all high-minded but he’s really just a venal flip-flopping politician, as compared to McCain, who is just a venal flip-flopping politician.
That piece is one of a popular type of conservative smearjob going around lately. Take some vague, thin premise, and use it as an opportunity to get some catchy terms of approbation out there, like “latte liberal” and “Scarlett Johannsen set” and vague terms of approbation like “Fast Eddie”. Absolutely zero content, but it draws negative attention to the target.
Whale.to is frequently cited on an anti-vaccination messageboard in which I used to participate. I was banned from that MB, partly because I succumbed to the temptation of treating such cites as sources of humor rather than triggers for discussion.

Only blue-state liberals get thrown under mass transit. Regular Americans get thrown under American trucks.
I think I left out a hyphen in educate-yourself. Hope you enjoy that one as well, though the same risk of brain-rot-by-proxy holds true as for whale.to. And don’t miss out on this one for fabulous insights into whacked-out alternative-alternative medicine, conspiracies and many other things They* Don’t Want Us To Know.
*Shodan is one of They! I knew it.
I love this kind of stuff.
Right there on the front page we get

Err - is that a rhetorical question?
I am so tempted to join their discussion board.

It’s refreshing to watch people who would ordinarily call each other crazy share a moment of clarity and unity over the true nuts that exist out there on the intarwebs. Reminds me why I like this place.
I’m not saying he is a hack. I’d need more info than I have. I find his connection to PBS to be somewhat redeeming but I haven’t heard or read a lot of his comments. Hannity and Limbaugh have stayed employed and they are opinions for sale as far as I’m concerned.
The article mentioned a list of things I’ve already heard from other GOP mouthpieces. He seems to try for a new angle to the same talking points and fails IMHO. I’m only judging this one article.
