The ultimate Sydney dinner - Iron Chefs Hiroyuki Sakai and Kenichi Chen.

How cool is this for any well heeled Doper in Sydney 6 - 8 November:

*If you’ve been spending too many of your Saturday nights sitting on the couch, totally gob-smacked at the culinary genius of the Iron Chefs going head to head in epic battle… well, you need to get out more. Stop staring at the telly and experience the awesome talent of the Iron Chefs for yourself at The Observatory Hotel when Iron Chef French, Hiroyuki Sakai and Iron Chef Chinese, Kenichi Chen join forces with the mastermind behind Galileo Restaurant, Haru Inukai, for a series of three magical evenings that should not be missed. The chefs will astound as they create seven extraordinary courses reflecting their combined passion for Japanese and Szechuan cuisine, enhanced by traditional French cooking techniques.

Cameras placed throughout the Galileo kitchen will broadcast all the fervent action to guests in the elegant surrounds of the Galileo dining room and Globe Bar. Television news presenter John Mangos will assume the role of Chairman for each evening as the Iron Chefs and Inukai roll out their spectacular culinary creations. Be greeted with cocktails on arrival before sitting down to enjoy the activity on the big screens and the magnificent seven course degustation dinner matched to sommelier Christian Baeppler’s selection of wines. Tickets to this rare event are $495 per person and are inclusive of welcome cocktails, food and wine.*

I soooo wish the camera footage would be edited for broadcast and shown on the Food Network. You know, for the benefit of all us folks who are neither in Australia nor have $495 to spend on a meal. Heck, I’d make a special Szechuan dinner to eat while watching the show.

Unfortunately, I’ll be in Sydney about 6 weeks too late to take part. And I don’t really have AUD 495 to spend on a meal either

I’m sure it’d be good tucker, but can you imagine the wankers who’d be there?

The ultimate Sydney dinner is still a snack and some good wine at a harbour foreshore park at Kirribilli, at sunset. Or even a pie and some VB.
