"The US is not a democracy" - run for the hills!

Once again, in this thread, the burning question of whether the United States is a republic or a democracy has been bravely tackled. Thank the goddess! How long would we be fooled that we live in a democracy if our diligent fellow Dopers hadn’t brought us to the light by quoting the … dictionary!

And our fellow Dopers will keep crying out against the darkness, as they did in this thread and this thread, not to mention all the other times they brought this crucial deception to our attention in various and sundry related (and unrelated) threads.

Fight the good fight, my brothers and sisters. Do not be swayed by those who spout the Masonic propaganda that the US is a “representative democracy”. Ignore those cretins who insist that by your definition, there is no true democracy in the world. You will prevail, because there is no more important issue facing us today than the reconciliation of dictionary definitions.

No justice, no peace!!

Heh.

I personally see no problem with that particular debate, just as I see no problem with debating, say, epistemology. OTOH, debating either as if there is some practical importance to the matter is strictly loony-toons.
