Jars have that pop-up seal. Produce you wash anyway. Lots of bread is now sold with an inner liner that is sealed, or at least tamper-evident.
There was a Ruth Rendell short story wherein a guy peeled the plastic wrap off packs of mushrooms, inserted slivers of toxic mushrooms and replaced the plastic wrap. He was trying to kill a specific person, and it didn’t seem to bother him that of the two people who died and several who were severely ill, none of them were his intended victim.
Now we are moving on from ice cream.
