The Voice: Season 6 thread

Jake seems like a nice guy, but to me his singing, as I’ve said before, is inconsistent. Also, frankly, I don’t want Blake to win a fourth time. He’s barely tolerable now, and I only think it’s Adam’s last season win that’s mellowed his constant, “I’m a three time champion,” bragging he was doing last season.

I agree with you about Josh. I just can’t connect to him. I’m sure he’ll have a solid career; I just won’t be downloading any of his songs or buying any of his CDs.

Josh has the highest overall iTunes ratings all season.

Moreover there was shenanigans afoot because *Set Fire to The Rain *was listed as an album not a song so people who wanted to download it couldn’t find it.

Wanted to get this in under the wire.

Of the three repeat performances, I ranked them

Jake, “Don’t Close Your Eyes” - superb. I did notice on thing that was slightly off, I looked up the lyrics, and they cut the 6 line verses to 4 lines. That threw off the rhyme scheme. But he sang with such heart and conviction it didn’t ruin the performance, just made something glitch for me. Still, best of the set.

Josh, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours” - energetic and entertaining.

Christina, “Wrecking Ball” - I don’t know what it was, but something was off in this performance. Pitch, or something. I don’t know, it only really got good right at the end when she kicked it to 11.

On the new song performances, I reversed the order of preference.

Christina, “Can’t Help Falling In Love” - It’s a beautiful song, she delivered it with heart and soul, passion, and the big stuff was big. She made a unique rendition that worked. Loved it!

Josh, “Set Fire to the Rain” - He tapped his emotions and had the connection, but there were some pitch or tone problems for me. Still, good overall.

Jake, “Right Here Waiting” - I think he did a serviceable reworking of the song to country, but it wasn’t his best. I love this song, and it worked in this form. I did spot one or two places he tweaked the delivery off the tempo, and those stood out for me. Overall, an okay but not awesome performance.

So, Josh has it for consistency, being #2 both times. I would pick Christina for her new song performance, but Jake did well.

Just saw on the news that Josh’s song was misfiled on iTunes, so no word on how that will affect the voting or what they will do to compensate. I’m sure that will be big news on the show tonight.

I’d prefer anyone to win over Blake this season. Usher winning would shake it up, Adam winning would put him on even terms with Blake.

I did watch the other performances, but I didn’t rank the duets in their voting.

I really want Blake to win more. You and I see Blake’s sparring with Adam differently. I don’t see it as bragging. It seems like more of an act.

The thing I like about Blake is that he puts the contestants first. He speaks well of them and even helps a lot of them after the show. I did understand the Sisaundra/Blake connection. Adam and Usher were talking about how Sisaundra could improve and that there were flaws in her performance. Blake didn’t. Blake talked about how great she was already. I also think that Sisaundra asked her connections about him because after she picked him, I could see her telling him that she heard good things about him.

To me, Blake puts his ego aside to pick songs to make the contestants look good, to the best of his ability. He also tries to build confidence in them instead of reinforcing how much they don’t know. I like that about him, so I like to see him win.

On preview: I guess I’m the only one that would like a Blake win, but Jake shouldn’t be the one.

Thank Christ Josh won! Jake sings off key and he can’t enunciate, I’m shocked Grimmie got kicked to the curb, I liked her duet with Ed Sheerhan but Josh is definitely the VOICE…I’ve been buying his stuff but I can’t wait to hear an original album.

Well, that was exciting. I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I really wasn’t expecting Christina to be at the bottom. Josh at the top was more expected since he had the most cumulative iTunes votes.

It was nice to hear that Adam would sign Christina to his label.

I liked that performance with Jake and Alabama. That was so adorable.

I liked Chris Martin so much on the show that I was bummed that I didn’t like Coldplay’s song ‘Magic’ but I was happy to really like the song they did on the show.
