So I go to take a quick nap, and when I wake up I find out that I slept through most of tonight’s show. I have it recorded, but I don’t think I’ll watch it. Instead I’ll try to decide between the two who I ranked the highest. Before being eliminated Damien was second after Mat. And before being eliminated I ranked DaNica higher than Damien.

Ah hell, I don’t want Blake to win, and he has an excellent chance with Craig. So I’m voting Damien. Three team Adam vs one team Blake. I like those odds.
Edit, I forgot, I can vote for both. So 10 votes for Damien and 10 for DaNica. I want either back over anybody else.

First off, results from last night… I called it. Chris went first, Craig went second, and Matt made third. That dropped Damien and Taylor John to the wild cards. I guess America saw things my way.

Now for the wild cards…

Reagan James, good song, okay performance.

Jessie Pitts, great song, lousy performance.

Ryan Sill, great song, great choice for him, good performance.

Anita Antoinette, I didn’t need to hear that.

Taylor John Williams, great song choice, really worked, great rendition.

Damien, not so good. Something about his staccato pacing annoys me.

Sugar Joans, where the hell did she come from? Awesome!

Luke Wade, bleh. Go away.

DaNica Shirey, decent song choice, I thought it would be good for her, but I didn’t like her overembellished rendition. Plus, on a personal note, I don’t care as much for the Whitney Houston version she covered. I like other versions better, with the note on “I can’t give” not going to the higher side, but the plainer note.

Going in, I would have rooted for DaNica, but on those performances, I rank them

I’d be happy with any of the top four, but it would be interesting for Sugar to come back and win, just because she left earlier than the others. Taylor just missed out this week, and Ryan was last week, so either of them or Damien are the obvious calls.

Though I’d prefer Adam to win it with Matt or Chris over Blake with Craig. Pharrell getting Sugar a win would upset Adam’s getting even with Blake.

And it looks like Damien is back in. Three Team Adam vs one team Blake. Although Craig is good enough that I don’t rule out a win, I think it will be one of the other three.

Damien?!! C’mon. He wasn’t the best of the wildcards.

I thought Sugar did great. A whole Sugar song without any screeching. Amazing.

I also liked Luke. Yeah, I know he messed up two songs already, but he really got into this one. I really liked it.

So I was choosing between Luke and Sugar. But Damien?! I’m tired of his overemotionalism. I was so sure he’d be out.

I’m cheering for Craig for the win. I still don’t see what everyone is seeing in Matt.

Well, this was a disappointing night for me, mostly down to song choice. None of the new songs wowed me.

I’m going to go ahead and call this for Craig Wayne Boyd and Blake - for two reasons.

First, Craig is a solid and consistent performer and is just fun. Yeah, it’s country, so it’s not my favorite, but he didn’t suck.

Second, none of Adam’s contestants really stood out, really did something spectacular to stand above the others, so Adam’s votes are going to be split three ways. And while they kept trying to separate the contestants and play up Matt’s rock versus Damien’s soul versus Chris’s dance stuff, it’s all just too similar.

It’s a shame. I didn’t care for Damien’s stuff again. Chris did well but his songs didn’t grab me. Matt shined on “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” at the end, but I don’t think it will be enough.

Yay! I hope you’re right. Hopefully, Blake’s country fans will all get behind Craig.

But I have to say that Chris did a really nice job on Cry Me a River, IMO. I also think that Matt has a big fan base, for some reason that I don’t understand. The end of Somewhere over the rainbow was great, but the beginning was just OK. It’s a tough song.

I didn’t care for any of the originals either, but Chris’ wasn’t too bad. And of course, I’m rooting for Craig’s.

I think it’s a great idea for the final contestants to get videos and original songs. In that way, they’ve already won. They don’t really need a recording. They have a demo to take to show people. But since they’re original songs, they’re harder to judge.

I’m rooting for Craig, but I can’t really call it. Chris stood out for me tonight, but I’m really not a fan of his. Matt has a good chance just because of all the votes he accumulated earlier in the season.

Please let it not be Damien. I don’t want to hear that again next season. As I was typing that, I was thinking back to the start of the season. I was jazzed about his blind audition. At this point, I’ve heard all the overemotionalism I want to hear from him.

I’m going to spoiler the iTunes rankings right at this moment just to be safe. But they don’t mean anything at this point.

[spoiler]Not that it necessarily shows the right rankings, but right at this moment, Matt is number one on iTunes. Craig is 2. Chris is 4 and Damien is 9.

The positions can change through the night, so that doesn’t mean anything. But Matt sure does have a lot of fans.[/spoiler]

Not necessarily. You can vote up to 10 times for each artist you like. For example, if you want team Adam to win, you can give 10 votes to all three artists.

I agree with those positions myself. Also, tonight I join everyone else in being sick of Damien. A little of him goes a long way. It’s not that he’s bad, it’s that his song choices are so limited.

Anyway, some observations.

Damien
“A Song for You” - Sung well, but same old Damien. There’s no escaping it.
“Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” - Bad song choice. Especially being paired with Adam. Damien’s singing doesn’t go well with that song.
“Soldier” - At this point I was beyond bored with his love ballad only song choices.

Craig
“My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face” - Meh. Not bad, but it just sounds average.
“Boots On” - Hey, country rock. I like it. Well, Craig was OK, it was Blake who really shined. I think he might have a future. :smiley:
“In Pictures” - The best of his performances. Very emotional and very well done.

Chris
“[song name needed]” - The song was too repetitive and I think it hurt singing it with Adam. Did we really need to hear him and Adam sounding alike repeating each other? Because they sound so much alike I really think he should have sang it alone.
“Velvet” - It sounded kind of old school, and slightly reminded me of Justin Timberlake.
“Cry me a River” - Like Craig, I thought that Chris’s last performance was his best.

Matt
“Wasted Love” - Sounded like an old Queen song. Afterwards Adam sure did lay it on thick trying to get people to vote for him.
“Lost Stars” - Kind of reminded me of Oasis.
“Over the Rainbow” - Like a broken record, I think it was his best performance.

That was quite a surprise. I didn’t think this guy had any chance of winning.

I never thought he’d draw enough votes. I guess the votes for Adam’s team split three ways? I thought either Damien Lawson or the nerdy guy would win.

I was hoping it would be Matt. Well, Craig has a great future ahead of him. Just like the previous winner… what’s their name… and the winner before that… uhm… Well anyway, good for him. :cool:

I’m so happy that Craig won. I feel like he deserved it. He changed his look, went through two steals and got kicked around a lot.

Earlier in the day, I checked iTunes and Matt was still number one, so I thought the results were a done deal, especially since Matt was in the top 10 more than Craig during the season.

I was so sure that Matt would win, that after I saw Damien and Chris go out, I turned my back because I just figured Matt would win and didn’t need to see it. Matt had a look on his face like he thought he had already won. I wonder if he was surprised as well.

I was shocked and happy to hear Craig’s name, but I missed the look on his face. I went back to watch it on Hulu. I did see Blake stand up and cheer though. Then Adam was congratulating Blake and looking like he was saying something in his ear.

I really liked Craig’s performance tonight on “Sweet Home Alabama”.

When it got to the results, I called it all down the line. Damien was 4th - YES. Chris was 3rd. Then Craig won first and put Matt 2nd.

Damn, Blake’s going to be annoying next season.

I realy like the two-hour spectacular featured solo performances by Ed Sheeran.
