I’m sure it’s not pleasant, but it doesn’t seem that bad to me. People would just learn to drive a stake through your head like they used to do when they believed in vampires. Dealing with dead is already icky business, it’s just a little ickier now. The fact that a loved one is dead seems much worse than the fact that you have to take precautions with their body to me.
What do you do if your spouse dies in his/her sleep? I guess you’d get chomped on.
I guess right now people must have so little hope, and now they know they will not be spared, unless someone stakes them. Still think for the survivors that’s got to be devastating.
Good point. Would you want to sleep in a house with 14 people in it, knowing that if any of them die in their sleep, they become zombies? And two of those people are (i) old guy and (ii) suicidal girl?
‘that feels nice - but I’m trying to get some rest here - — OHMYGODYOURAZOMBIE!’
I think that Rick was still in overall shock at having to kill his ‘friend’ and had not had time to think thru the neccessary next step - I’m not sure anyone has figured on the amount of time from death to re-animation. Even blonde girl’s sister took longer than Shane just did.
Per Randal - all I heard was the sound of him falling (presumably into a trap) - we were not shown Shane doing the neck breaking - but I agree that he likely did it. No doubt that Shane had no clue that he would come back.
FTR - Carl missed his target - he never reacted to Shane’s re-awakening.
Yeah, I think Rick knows, he was jut in shock. Plus, he had yet to see anybody come back after dying of non-zombie causes.
I don’t think there’s any doubt he did it. He even told Rick that would tell everyone he broke the kids neck after killing Rick.
Really? I like that. Makes more sense than believing the kid’s a crack shot.
But again, we have Carl wandering around by himself after dark. What the hell is Lori doing?
I have a question that should probably be answered in a spoiler, as it concerns the graphic novels.
Does everyone reanimate after death in the graphic novels, or does it take a bite?
If everyone comes back after death old people become a danger, so do couple sleeping arrangements, so does a lot of people living in a house together. Not that it looks like that’s going to last long.
I didn’t mean there was a doubt that Shane did the neck breaking - only that we were not shown it on screen - kid falls - no noises (as if that was the death itself) - Shane gets wood - I know the writers of the show wanted the neck break/shane’s reveal to be later in the episode - but there was no doubt what was going to happen.
Just prior to Randall falling - Shane had his gun drawn - so, I don’t think breaking his neck was his initial plan.
This was specifically talked about in season one in the Atlanta rest home.
I like that Rick keeps on being observant and seeing things that he should see, but you kind of expect him not to get.
Well, thats my take on it - He’s starting to view his Dad as weak, Shane was his ‘go to guy’ and he really isnt that good a shot.
What’s Lori doing? Pissing people off and crashing cars - things she is good at.
Something esle I forgot to mention - Glenn proved himself again - I think Maggie will get a little tonite.
I didn’t think of that, but it just means everyone has to sleep in their own room with the door closed. Couples could decide if it’s worth the risk. Our heroes can’t do that at the moment, but it’s something that can be dealt with fairly easily in the future. Of course, that sucks for couples, but the odds of someone dying while you’re in bed with them is pretty low so anyone who isn’t old would likely be ok.
I’m a little fuzzy on how long it takes to reanimate. It took Shane like 30 seconds but doesn’t it normally take a few hours? If so, many of the people dying in their sleep would probably be found still dead the next morning.
Don’t get me wrong, it certainly sucks, but it’s kind of an inconvenient danger and not a devastating revelation.
You must have missed the last few 5 seconds of the show. No one is getting any tonight.
Saw the last 5 seconds - I simply meant that Glenn is no longer questioning himself and that (in a normal world) - he’d go back with that confidence and quit avoiding Maggie.
And I did say ‘a little’ - end of the world quickie and all that.
Did he even have a plan? Shane got lucky. What if Rick had gone with Darryl instead?
I’m still trying to figure out why Shane walked Rick back toward the house.
I guess Shane’s behavior in the barn with Randall – jerking his head like he was trying to get all bad thoughts out – was the writers setting Shane up to do something crazy.
My answer is yes! Versus what? Camping alone, away from others, in nature which is likely crawling with zombies (or other unknown and unfriendly survivors?)
Lori’s much more than a whiny bitch, apparently. Her plan almost back-fired on her, though.
The walkers must be moving out of the city now. That one gunshot brought them out of the woodwork, whereas the firearms training they did a few episodes back didn’t seem to have any effect.
I like that zombies transform almost immediately after death. It wasn’t really believable that the zombie plague swept the world when it takes hours or days for someone bitten to zombify. It would be too easy to quarantine the infected and stop the plague.
But if every corpse all of a sudden sprang up and started bitting people, its a lot easier to see how you’d end up with a lot of zombies quickly.
Ditto.
