The Walking Dead; 8.11 "Dead or Alive Or" (open spoilers)

Denise Huth and Tamera Mowry-Housley are on Talking Dead.

Bio-war, yikes!

Father Gabriel should know by now what to expect from the same deity that caused the zombie apocalypse!

Does Negan not realize everyone already has the virus in them?

So how many times have we seen people covering themselves in zombie gore to escape, or get their faces splattered with blood and brains after shooting an attacking zombie and now we’re supposed to think Negan will use zombie blood as a weapon?

Obviously Negan thinks it will work. But maybe he just thinks they will get sick like Gabriel, and not fight back.

It’s been established that zombie bites do not cause the zombie virus, zombie bites cause a raging infection that kills you and then you become a zombie because everyone already has the virus in them. Zombie blood, guts, etc in an open wound will cause an infection.

Yes, given the amount of zombie blood and guts that have been splashed around, we should have seen more infections by now, but it has been established that (when the plot calls for it) that’s what happens.

So Negan is planning on everyone getting sick on the putrid zombie guts , delivered by some missile or gut-grenade that Eugene builds, that’s kinda stupid. Negan needs the hilltop to produce. Sick or Dead bodies don’t usually do much work. The writers are bogging down here, I am afraid. This is worrying. What’s gonna stop the virus just getting on your hand when you grab them to stab them.
Oh, the new doctor dude could make a vaccine. Right? This story arc cannot sustain itself.

I think it’s more likely that Negan will send one walker over the Hilltop’s walls and threaten to send more unless they surrender. Negan isn’t into wholesale slaughter, he wants to kill the leaders (Rick, Maggie, Ezekiel) and make everyone else fall in line.

I said above, I’ll say it again: Zombie bites do not cause the virus. Neither does their blood and guts. What they cause is an infection. Same as any infection that comes from nasty rotting matter. Same as you’d get from eating a rotten pork chop. A bit more serious and potentially fatal than that, but basically the same thing. Get some kind of nasty bacteria in an open wound in the real world and you will end up with a nasty infection. Same thing.

Everyone already has the zombie virus. Anyone who dies of anything except a brain injury will reanimate as a Walker. Everybody knows this. So, no, the writers aren’t changing anything. What’s going to stop people getting an infection from zombie guts is the same thing that’s always protected them: dumb luck AKA plot armour.

Yeah, I was completely confused by the “genius of this devious plan”. No one seems the least bit concerned about keeping Zombie Guts off themselves or worrying about back-splatter when killing them. Sure, they eventually want to get cleaned up, but they walk around with that shit all over them all the time. I guess the writers need some filler to stretch the season out until the end. Otherwise, a pretty boring episode. I was hoping Gabriel would finally get bitten and die or something.

Wasn’t the weapons covered in zombie blood technique used by someone else, several seasons ago?

They are not just going to throw zombie guts and blood on them, they are covering their weapons with it, which should be a lot more effective at causing the deadly infection that simple exposure.

Is it worse to shoot someone with a regular bullet than to shoot them with a zombie blood coated bullet? Only if you shoot to purposely graze them, so what would be the point? Don’t shoot to just graze.

Best episode of the season so far in my opinion. Wow, stuff actually happening on multiple fronts and no navel gazing on the part of our main characters. Loved it, though I will admit I maybe gave it an extra star because of lack of anything good from this show in so long.

About the Negan zombie guts plan…we, the audience, know how it works, but have we seen anything to indicate that Negan knows, or understand fully how it works? Heck, the main characters thought it worked that way for a long while.

Why was Eugene being a dick to that hot girl?

Kind of a let down after last week but not terrible. The “I wanna Kill Dwight; Now I don’t” stuff was annoying.

That’s what I was trying to say. Thanks.

Projection, of a sort. He’s scared shitless that Negan is going to find out that he’s not fully on board with the program, and has been doing some “extracurricular activities”.

I haven’t been watching - but yeah - wounded with zombie blood should == getting folks zombified behind enemy lines.

I am not sure why Gabriel got sick. They want us to believe it was the guts, but he’d been covered in guts before. If he lives through the illness does that make him inoculated against zombie bites? I am telling you this is gonna be a plot trick that’s gonna come back up and zombie bite the writers in the butt. They need to handle this gut bullet ( or whatever) carefully. They are more creative than me so I bet they could do it.
