The Walking Dead: season 9 (open spoilers)

Is there some reason Michonne can only speak in whispers? I can’t stand her. I keep seeing people say how good an actress she is but I just don’t see it. She does nothing but whisper every single line.

Apparently TWD now takes place in the same universe as Game of Thrones where winter might not come for 7+ years. Seriously the characters have had winter before yes? And yet this was like the first time they’ve been in the cold. In a major blizzard with Arctic temperatures in Virginia. OK.

I didn’t even realize my DVR did not record the last 20 mins of the previous episode until I started watching the finale and had no idea what was happening and why it seemed Tara and Henry were dead. So that was fun. Apparently AMC fucked up and many people missed the end. This finale sucked so much I have basically zero interest in watching next season.

Daryl, Michonne, and Carol. Once Michonne leaves, it will be Daryl, Carol, and Judith.

At the speed they shuffle, with their “Guardians” surrounding them, migration to a warmer climate would take them all winter! And they would be so far away that they would have zero control over that originally delineated territory. So no reason for the caravan of refugees to agonize over their course or the timing of their hike. Just more stupid writing and unnecessary plot complications.

She’s not the only one! I’ve complained before about all the whispered dialog from almost every character. Whispering makes sense when you’re trying to conceal yourself. But during normal conversations in your own ‘home town’, there’s no valid, objective reason for it, just another unnecessary annoyance that requires even more ‘suspension of disbelief’.

One of those shows where the people whisper, mutter, or slur or use weird accents. Then there is blaring blasting music and ‘rawwrrrr…,rawrrrr…teeth gnashing, guns shooting, horses rearing’ noise. I’m constantly turning the sound way up and then way down.

They have to whisper so they can hear the zombies coming, except they never hear them until they are right behind them about to bite.

I finished the season off DVR. As with others, my DVR cut off and I missed the extended 20 minutes and the big scene. As a reader of the comics I assumed that was coming. Based upon the comments I’m a bit disappointed in who ended up on pikes vs. the comics. Then again, there are not many interesting characters left so you go with what you got I guess.

The winter storm was stupid but I do think it was fairly obvious that there was not a disconnect between the group traveling through the storm and the later scene with Alpha and Beta. The group were trying to sneak through the Whisper’s territory. At one point it was said, maybe by Darryl, that it appeared they were not there anymore. Later you see Alpha and Beta in a weather that is clearly not Blizzard-Apocalypse which confirmed that the Whispers had moved on to another area but clearly Alpha is planning to return and bring ill intentions.

I honestly have no idea if I’ll watch next season. This season I watched entirely off of DVR and it was mostly binge watching the last 4-6 episodes in a day to get through it. I haven’t watched live during scheduled broadcast in a few years, it’s just not “must watch TV” anymore. And there just is not enough interesting characters anymore. I still love Carol. Darryl is great but he is completely 1-note and unchanged since Season 1 and after 9 seasons it’s grown weary. Michonne, like Carol, seems to be a well developed character with motivations and emotional range but I just don’t connect to her much. For comparison I think about Maggie and how everything she survived and all the loss (father, sister, husband) and I could feel her saddness/grief or her rage. Michonne comes from a similar place but I just don’t “feel” her. Aaron? Gabriel? The King? Meh… really don’t care too much about them.

Rick never died, tho, so maybe it’s Shane

Shane is dead as dogshit, hon. he isn’t coming back.

Well, he did come back for that ONE episode where Rick was going to be dead as dogshit.

Yes, and Hershel and Sasha “came back”, also. You do realize those were only visions, don’t you? Fantasies?

Unless Shane’s soul was reincarnated directly into Beta’s huge body, Shane will also remain as dead as Hershel and Sasha. (though Rick must be made of fierce tough stuff to survive at the end as he was swooped away with Jadis).

Yes, that’s why I made such an absurd choice instead of random Alexandrian #4
