Also, Dad’s inability to kill the Zombie that was once his wife is sure to be an error that will come back to haunt him, I can see a few ways this could go bad;
1; the lower floor is compromised, he and his son get bitten by Wife-Zombie, and he has to kill Zombie-Wife, then his son, then himself
2; he gets bitten, his son kills Zombie-Mom, then has to kill I’m-Not-Undead-Yet-Dad
3; Son gets bitten, Dad has to kill Zombie-Wife, then I’m-Not-Undead-Yet-Son
4; Zombie-Wife is attacking Dad, Son has to kill Zombie-Mom to save Dad, sort of a Post-Apocalyptic-Coming-Of-Age-Story
5; Zombie-Wife is attacking Son, Dad has to shoot Zombie Wife to protect Son, Son finally realizes and has to come to terms with the fact that Mom was dead, and the thing that attacked him was NOT his mom, but nothing more than an animated bag of rotting meat…

getting a high-cap semiauto (Beretta M9/92F 17 rounds in the mag)
