Vu-ca-tion is the New England pronounciation. Marge Bouvier and her mother Jackie are partly a running gag on the Kennedys (as is Mayor Quimbley).
The “vuh” pronunciation is also common elsewhere. I grew up in New Orleans, and that was the way we say it there.
I’m curious as to where Hail Ants, Marley, and Thudlow are from.

Both “vuh-kay-shun” and “vay-kay-shun” are commonly heard in the upper Midwest.

I’m from upstate NY (i.e. not NYC) where we call hamburgers "steamed hams"…
The reason I asked is that a bunch of Simpsons episodes, both new & syndicated, in which they take a ‘vuh-kay-shun’ have aired recently.
I’m kind of a snob when it comes to people not speaking correctly (I laugh when someone says ‘aks’ for ask) so her weird pronunciations really stand out (plus I’ve never heard anyone say it that way).
Well, I’m from Utica and I’ve never heard that.
